After I’ve decided not to

exercise and go to the gym any
longer, I started a research of
the athlete's diet. I was curious on
their food habits, what they could
eat and whether
they would be burning calories if
they were to eat like ordinary
people – those who don’t
practice sports. Coincidentally, I
became acquainted with boxing,
which had been
unknown to me until then. Every
day I was discovering to boxers’
experiences related to
their diet, losing weight in a short
time frame and staying in full
strength ready for the
match. One of the essential topics
was how they regain muscular
mass after a fight. I
found it fascinating that boxers can
lose a few kilos in a day. The
nutrition plan is made
by the coaches before the
preparation and competition period.
The menu must be very
complex so that at all times the
body is nutritioned with everything
it needs to function
properly. Preparations of boxers for
the next competitions start at the
beginning of the
year during winter months and it is
very important to strengthen the
immune system for
the upcoming months.

 DIET OF A BOXER
After I’ve decided not to exercise and go to the gym any longer, I started researching
the athlete's diet. I was curious about their food habits, what they could eat and
whether they would be burning calories if they were to eat like ordinary people –
those who don’t practice sports. Coincidentally, I became acquainted with boxing,
which had been unknown to me until then. Every day I was discovering boxers’

CARBOHYDRATES
Besides daily training and ring matches, diet plays a large role in the appearance and
muscle mass of boxers. Boxers must try to get as much protein and carbohydrates as
possible. Protein builds muscle mass, that’s familiar and acceptable to me, but why
carbs? That’s exactly what made me fat?  Conclusion was - carbohydrates are allowed
only if they are to be consumed!!!

WATER
Limited fluid intake helps the boxer reach his desired weight a few days before the
match. Good advice for myself since I don’t drink enough water as should. But again I
run into a situation that doesn’t suit me. Three days before the match, boxers ingest 6-
8 liters of water a day. Increased water intake encourages the body to excrete fluids
more than usual and thus the desired weight is reached. It just sounds like a “mission
impossible” for me since I am having some bad drinking habits.

TRAINING
The end of weight loss is training. Boxers do specific exercises that include large
muscle groups such as running, weightlifting, swimming, squats, fitness training.
Needless to say, I don't recognize myself in enduring this kind of training.

BOXING, NOBLE SKILL, NOBLE PEOPLE

I continue as before without training, still on a special diet. Not everyone was meant
to be a boxer.

I was hoping I could use their knowledge for the ideal weight but ended up
discovering much more: how the noble sports boxing was. For how mentally and
physically resilient they are I find athletes who practice it “people with a big heart”.
