Preschool Summer Learning
TOP 5 TIPS

1 TALK and make observations - It's so important to have

give and take conversations with your preschooler. As
you're out and about, driving in the car, on a walk, or
doing basically anything - talk about it! This improves
vocabulary, communication, and cognitive thinking skills.

2 Include time to MOVE - Young children are not designed

to sit still for long stretches of time. Make sure you set
aside plenty of time to move and play during and in
between learning times.

3 Learn through play - Find fun hands-on ways to teach

your child. Maria Montessori said "What the hand does,
the mind remembers" and it is so true!

4 Read aloud every single day - Cuddle up in a cozy space.

Make silly voices. Read about topics your child enjoys.
Revisit the same favorites again and again.

TOP 5 TIPS

5 Make Learning Sensory - Sensory exploration is not just

for babies! Preschoolers benefit so much from learning
through all their senses. Plus, it really helps to keep them
engaged in what they're learning.

Almost any activity can be adapted to include sensory

play. The following page has a great list of ideas to get
you started!
