Task 1 - (30%)

According to a report in the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in 2018,
around 90% of teenagers between 13 and 17 used social media. In Southeast Asia, Indonesia
has the highest percentage of social media users, with their youth contributing significantly
the to the numbers. This trend is similar in Malaysia, where an article written by scholars
from Universiti Sains Malaysia revealed youths in Malaysia made up almost 80% of social
media users.
Write a 1500-word essay on the effects of social media on the younger generation.

Students are expected to do a research on the topic given. Please note that you are
required to support your points using sources from books, journals, articles, theses,
reputable magazines, as well as other reliable sources for Academic Writing as shown in
Chapter 5. Failure to do this will cause a substantial loss of marks.
You are reminded that plagiarism in any forms is NOT tolerated. The essay should

Tugasan 1 – (30%)

besar.
Sebarang bentuk plagiat tidak akan diterima. Esei ini haruslah mematuhi format APA
seperti yang ditunjukkan dalam Bab 10.

Task 2 – (15%)

With the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, governments around the world are taking swift
and active steps to halt its spread. One of the common measures is to impose a geographical
lockdown or restriction on the population movements. In Malaysia, the government first
imposed the Movement Control Order (MCO) on 18 March 2020 and many subsequent
restrictions since then have been in affect. In other countries, similar actions are in place to
control the spread of the pandemic. During this restrictions on movement and how we
conduct day-to-day activities, people are faced with a new normal.

Write a 250-word essay describing effective steps that can be taken by the masses to adapt to
this ‘new normal’.

Tugasan 2 – (15%)
