Thronebound

The Throne. Many covet it, few have seen it. A rare few have sworn service to it.
Should a Godbound somehow find the Throne Room, gaze upon that within and swear a
binding oath to, among many other things, deny their own godhood and swear eternal
servitude to the Throne, whomever sits on it and all of Creation itself changes
themselves on a fundamental level. From then on they have a duty to find and fix the
broken worlds around them.

By choosing to bind themselves into servitude, the Thronebound loses access to

the Word of Apotheosis and all its gifts and abilities - cults and churches are too large
distractions from their one true duty to Creation. They no longer gain any magical or
divine benefit from having a cult regardless of size or devotion, though they may still
have worshippers whose souls belong to them after death.

The Thronebound are sworn to fix any and all broken celestial engines they find,
cannot damage the celestial engines or attempt to salvage them and must act to prevent
any further damage to the celestial engines.

This Word has no miracles, but the power of the Throne courses through the
wielder’s veins. The Thronebound may repair any Celestial Engine, regardless of their
Words, their Fray die affects even Worthy foes and they are able to instinctively sense
Uncreated, angels, divinities and Celestial Shards and Engines in a 200-foot radius;
Worthy foes may make a Spirit Save to avoid detection. This sense is not accurate
enough to give a precise location and thus is useless for, for example, targeting an
invisible foe, recognizing an angel in disguise or discovering the exact number of
Uncreated in an army. They suffer no issue differentiating between the listed creatures
and objects with this sense.

The Thronebound gains the following gifts:

As a Traitor Deserves

Constant. If at any point the Thronebound directly or indirectly goes against one of
their restrictions, the Throne expresses its disappointment by flooding them full of
unstable energies for twenty-four hours. They are conscious but paralyzed during this
time and suffer immense pain, reduced to 1 HP while the Throne enacts its wrath upon
the oath-breaker. All creatures within one mile feel a strong compulsion to leave the
area, which Worthy ones can resist via a Spirit saving throw. Afterwards the energy
disperses in a harmless, albeit spectacular fashion and the Thronebound regenerates HP
normally. If this is triggered three times over the span of a decade, the Thronebound
Falls afterwards, losing all their gifts and benefits from this Word but regaining access to
Apotheosis. They may attempt to regain their status by fixing 12 Celestial Engines in the
span of a year or 108 Celestial Engines in a span of a decade (they must still make a
journey to the Throne).

Beyond Good and Evil

Constant. The Thronebound’s mind becomes neither mortal nor divine in design.
Their personality may remain unchanged, but their emotions and thought processes
become alien to those who are able to sense them. They gain an angel’s Unfettered trait,
as detailed in their section of the Godbound Core Rulebook. They may bypass said trait
when attempting to read or affect a target’s mind through another gift.

Call to Duty

Constant. If at any point the Thronebound were to die or be destroyed, they are
instead resurrected around 1 decade later, either regenerating from the largest remaining
piece of their body or appearing where they were last destroyed, fully healed. If old age
was the cause of their death they de-age to their youthful state. If, on using this ability,
the world they are on no longer exists or has no damaged celestial engines they are
instead immediately transported to another world in need of their talents.

Correction of Natural Law

Action. The Thronebound can “cure” Misbegotten, completely removing any of

their anomalies physical, mental or otherwise. They can also commit Effort for the scene
to negate the effects of any single low magic, Theurgy, miracle or divine gift. This cannot
negate Constant gifts or passive abilities that are innate to a target. This gift has one final
purpose: by using Influence, the Thronebound may feed a Parasite God’s addiction. For 1
point of Influence, a Thronebound may remove a Parasite God’s addiction to celestial
energy for as long as the Influence remains committed. Most Parasite Gods will notice
this immediately, but some may require time to acclimate to their lack of hunger - and
others still may be too far gone, their thirst having become less an addiction to be fed
and more an obsession to be chased. Against those, the Thronebound may prove less a
kind and benevolent savior and more of an extremely enticing target.

Heal the World

Action. The Thronebound may fix any destroyed celestial engine. Upon finding a
salvaged engine the Thronebound gains 1 celestial shard per week which can only be
used for repairing said engine. This spawning can only be active for 1 engine at a time
and lasts until the Thronebound has enough shards (from either this ability or elsewise) to
be repaired. If the engine is repaired using celestial shards other than those generated
by this gift the remaining spawned shards in the Thronebound’s possession immediately
evaporate, their celestial energies returning to whence they came. Finally, the
Thronebound may use 1 point Influence to force a broken Celestial Engine they have
seen at least once before to work, their divine power making up for any damage or
missing pieces. It continues to function so long as Influence remains committed and the
Thronebound does not leave the plane of reality the Engine exists in.

Mending the Strands

Constant. The Thronebound’s presence acts as a soothing balm to the fabric of

reality - and a potent defense against its undoing. The Thronebound is immune to an
Uncreated’s Cold Breath while allied Godbound require one less Effort to overcome the
effects of said power while they remain in the Thronebound’s presence. When faced with
damage to the shell of creation, the Thronebound can focus this mending aura to repair
it. As an action, the Thronebound can commit Effort to either close or permanently
destroy a Night Road in their line of sight.

Reality’s Violent Rejection

Smite Action. Commit Effort to the day and select a point in sight. All Uncreated
within 200 feet of the selected area are instantly obliterated and cease to exist. If a non-
Uncreated who has intentionally damaged or salvaged a Celestial Engine, whether
directly or indirectly, in the past decade is in the path of this awful blast they are dealt 10
damage for each Celestial Engine they have broken and 6 damage for each Celestial
Shard they have salvaged directly from a Celestial Engine.
Walking Amongst Shattered Stars

Action. The Thronebound may leave a world or plane of existence at will,

selecting a destination or allowing the Throne to take them to a random world, most
usually a world in need of their abilities. The Thronebound cannot leave a world/plane of
existence until all of its Celestial Engines are working properly or its collapse is inevitable
and irreversible. Otherwise this ability can only be used once per year, but immediately
takes effect on the destruction of a world the Thronebound is currently on, being sent to
either the Throne Room or a random world immediately in need of their abilities,
regardless of the date of their last transfer. If at any point the Throne Room is under
immediate danger they are notified and transported to where they are most effectively
able to counter the threat.
