SIGINIFICANT FACTORS FOR SUCCESS

DEMAND DUE TO RAPID URBANIZATION

For the past several years, the Indian tiles industry has been growing due to urbanisation, affordability of
tiles, and consumers’ focus on home aesthetics, aided by rising disposable incomes. This growth rate is
expected to accelerate in the coming years because of the new government’s increased focus on affordable
housing . Going by its performance, Kajaria should be able to beat the industry growth rates.

PRESENCE IN MULTIPLE LOCATIONS

Today, Kajaria has eight plants: one at Sikandarabad in Uttar Pradesh, one at Gailpur and another at
Malootana (both in Rajasthan), four in Gujarat and one at Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh (AP). A new plant
is at srikalahasti , also in AP. These plants fulfil all international standards and are heavily automated, thus
eliminating the possibility of human error .

Diverse offerings

and exclusivity. Apart from ceramic wall and floor tiles, polished vitrified tiles, glazed vitrified tiles (Eternity) and
digital tiles (tiles on which any design can be printed using digital printing technology; a first-of-its kind in India), the
company manufactures sanitaryware and faucets under the brand name Kerovit.

Feedback from the customer is given special attention, which is the reason the company has invested heavily in its network
of classy display centres/showrooms — Kajaria: World, Galaxy, Star, Prima and Studio to attract retail customers. These
outlets display not just tile samples but also mock-ups of bathrooms and kitchens using various combinations of tiles. This
allows the customer to experiment and make choices, which then form the plank for creating future designs, sizes and

SYSTEM OF ACCOUNTING FOLLOWED
The accounting system of KAJARIA is supported by German software system SAP. It builds service
orientation directly into its solutions through a technology called as SAP NetWeaver. This software supports
companies in the development of their own service oriented architectures. Functional units of SAP are split
across different organizational units for R&D needs, field activities and customer support. The main
advantage of SAP system is that, this system enables the users to get to know the full details of an employee
right from the day of his/her arrival in the organization. Pay role is processed using SAP. Even if an
employee is absent, that will be also marked in his profile using SAP. Finally, when an employee salary is
computed, the SAP will calculate his/her salary depending upon the number of leaves taken. This will help
the organization into reducing its human effort
PRODUCT PROMOTIONAL MEASURES
SYSTEM FOLLOWED FOR PURCHASE OF MATERIALS
Kajaria revealed that all incoming raw materials have to strictly adhere to agreed and
approved specifications. Before bulk orders are made from any supplier kajaria follows a
meticulous procedure that includes thoroughly studying the supplier’s profile and product
specifications. The supplier is also required to submit a small sample for preliminary
laboratory trials and if the material passes the rigorous lab tests, a bigger quantity is
requested for semi-industrial test. If the semi-industrial test results meet kajaria benchmarks,
there is another layer of test wherein a full container is ordered for bulk commercial trials. It
is only after this stage that kajaria negotiates with the supplier to place bulk orders.
Kajaria the world’s largest ceramic tiles & bathware manufacturing company, has revealed
that its ability to source world-class raw materials has been a key factor that has allowed the
company to maintain its stronghold in the global market. Kajaria also revealed that its
current suppliers from Europe, Far-East and Asia, besides UAE have all passed stringent
quality standards and also stand out from other suppliers with their proven track record in
terms of product quality, pricing and timely delivery.
In addition kajaria also stated that its suppliers maintain their own mines and processing
plants or manufacturing units, ensuring top-quality raw materials. Moreover, a significant
percentage of clay and limestone raw materials are locally sourced, which creates significant
cost savings that are passed on to customers as it becomes more cost effective to
manufacture the products and there is less inventory to be maintained with the source just
nearby. Locally sourced clay and limestone are used as major raw materials for tile
production.

PERFORMANCE APPRISAL SYSTEM

useful and constantly being done. The HR department is responsible for fixing the qualities and characteristics to be
rated in determining appraisal of employees. This research examines the effectiveness of Performance Appraisal

FINANCIAL HILIGHTS
FUTURE PLANS AND GROWTH OF ORGANIZATION
Kajaria Ceramics is trying to capture a larger part of the unorganized tiles market, nearly half the domestic
industry. Under-penetration of tiles, especially in rural areas, along with increasing trend of nuclear families,
will be key demand drivers for the sector.
Company diversified into sanitary ware and faucet manufacturing under brand name kerovit. Commissioned
a plant in morbi capacity of 7 lac units per annum, and 1 million faucet making facility in galipur rajasthan.
With this diversification, Kajaria Ceramics is planning to become a complete bathroom solutions company.
Kajaria for the fourth quarter was the best in FY21. Gross sales and EBITDA picked up by 46% and 104%
respectively over the corresponding quarter in the previous year. Net Profit for the quarter stood at Rs
127.09 crore against Rs 49.59 crore in Q4 FY20. It also pulled up our financials for the full year. In FY21
revenue kept at par with FY20, with EBITDA and Net Profit increased by 22% and 21% respectively.
Although India remains overwhelmed with the second wave of Covid-19, and our majority of plants
operated at lower capacity in the month of May and June 2021, sales were also effected, I am optimistic that
the combined efforts of policy makers, health care warriors and the resilient Indian, will help getting past the
current gloom. Growth opportunities, in my opinion, will rebound aggressively as economic activity picks
up over the medium term. To capitalize on emerging opportunities, we have planned to augment our
manufacturing capabilities through the brownfield route.
