Essay of Literature

Perceptions of students considering sex education as they study literature

Etymologically, the word "literatura" in Indonesian derives from the Sanskrit word
"sastra," which includes the prefix "tra" and the root "sas," which means to direct, teach, or offer
instructions. Thus, the term "literature" can be understood as a teaching aid, manual, or language
programmes when analyzed in light of its etymological meaning. This understanding implies that
what is known as literature is nothing but a tool used only to educate or educate its readers
(Teeuw, 2013). We must frequently listen to or pay attention to lecturers who link sex education
to the study of literature as it relates to this literature study. What is sexual education in reality?
Sex education is the subject matter we cover in our lessons on gender and all its ramifications.
The development of gender is included in this (male or female). How sex works as a method of
reproduction Exactly how do men's and women's genitalia develop. On the beginning of lust
brought on by hormonal shifts, wet dreams, menstruation, and other topics. Future issues like
marriage, childbirth, and other issues will also be included. Due to the assumption of students
who believe that sex education has a negative impact, we are aware that sex education is still
taboo in Indonesia. Students may therefore believe that sex education could be examined from
the perspective of literature for many reasons.

Apparently, Roqib (2008: 273). Because children are when core human character is
created, sex education is imparted early. Psychoanalysts have established the positive or negative
effects of a child's early years on the development of their fundamental character. The
development of different types of sexual aberration in subsequent times can be impacted by the
inappropriate education. This demonstrates that perhaps the student factor believes that sex
education will have a negative affect because, from a young age, less emphasis is placed on the
value of teaching sexuality (sex education), along with how to circumvent sexual violence and
other topics, which consequences in when something is put in place in schools when students are
teenagers and older. Their school takes it as an invitation to have sex or something.

Another reason why parents and teachers choose not to tell their children about sex
education is that they don't comprehend it. Because the majority of them believe that sex
instruction is taboo and will harm their children. However, some studies indicates that sex
education for teachers and parents will benefit the kids who get it. One finding from research by
Zelnik and Kim (1982), published in Paramastri and Centered ” (1998:27), indicates that children
tend to postpone premarital sexual behavior if their parents are open to having sex with them.
According to research by Bennett and Dickinson (1980) in Paramastri or rather Helmi (1998:
28), the majority of teenagers want to existing provision sexual education from their parents.
However, because parents do not know or even adequately explain, adolescents look for
information elsewhere, including from the group. These two studies demonstrate because if
parents are ready to discuss sex with their kids, it is quite likely that kids won't engage in

extramarital sex. Additionally, if parents are not well-versed in sex education, their children can
seek out knowledge anywhere, including from teachers at school who are.

As a result, students continue to believe that sexual education in literature classes has a
bad effect because they believe it to be a gateway to an untrue invitation. Even parents and
educators refrain from doing it because that would lower the children's morale. As opposed to
this, sexuality (education in schools) teaches us all about reproductive rights and shields us from
STDs. In the future, it is hoped that people will think about studying sex education through
literature.
