Morphology Essay

Students have trouble understanding morphology during the learning process

Anyone who studies English nor English literature will undoubtedly receive morphology
courses during the educational process. Exactly what is morphology? A subfield of linguistics
known as morphology studies the nuances of various word structures as well as the potential
effects of word structure alterations on word grouping and meaning (Ramlan, 1980: 2). (Baryadi,
2011: 1) offered a different perspective on morphology, claiming that it is a science that
examines words and morphemes. However, because they would have already learned such
teaching through our school or for another reason, the majority of the pupils in this study did not
comprehend morphological instruction. Thus, there are a number of causes for why pupils
struggle to comprehend morphology lessons.

Students have trouble comprehending both morphologies and morphological structure

are, which is why they have trouble understanding morphology. In which pupils still have trouble
telling the difference between the words morph and allomorph. They both appear to be the same
at first glance. Allomorphs and morphs, however, are fractions of each other. The morphological
process follows, particularly affixation. The main morphological process, affixation, involves
several affixes, making it challenging for pupils. Despite having studied these morphology, they
have struggled to retain the information. That's because they're not accustomed to learning in a
way that is challenging to comprehend.

The inadequacy essential literacies in morphology learning, including reading, critical

thinking, and other skills, is the next cause. The focus of the curriculum includes starting to read
(Slavin, 2014: 163). Reading increases our familiarity from the outside world, and others will
view us as less knowledgeable if we don't read often. Similar to learning morphology, we will
not understand the lecturer's lessons if we don't actually study morphology. Phrasing is one of
the three reading levels that can be easily classified, according to the source (Priyati, 2014: 148)
(reading in the lines). Readers at this level must be able to think critically in order to assess the
author's intentions behind the stated material, including to pressure or identify implications. So,
in order to take implications from this morphology study, we should think critically when
examining morphology.

As a student, it is important to develop literacy skills like having read but also critical
thinking in order to study morphology. because although that we can comprehend the lessons
they teach us better. Additionally, reading interest can be increased for literacy in the future.
