Background of Research

The goal of this research was to look into efficient piano practice methods
with the goal of improving piano practice efficacy among piano major
undergraduates in Universiti Malaya and Universiti Putra Malaysia
introduction - (what)
Effective methods of piano practice, such as practicing hands
individually and slow practice , will be explained and taught to
musicians in this study, and will serve as a reference and guideline to
improve the effectiveness of each practice session.
Slow practice, according to
Kraehenbuehl (1988), helps pupils
clean up tough sections of their
work.

According to a poll of pre-college introduction - (why)

and college piano teachers, about
57 percent of them have asked
pupils to practice with their hands
independently when learning a new
piece (Barry & McArthur, 1994).
introduction - (how)
Quantitative methods will be used by having questionnaire study,
sampling musicians from piano major undergraduates Universiti Malaya
and Universiti Putra Malaysia.
LITERATURE REVIEW
1. Some people probably think of practicing as being defined as dedicating a particular
amount of time to the instrument each day. (Kenny, 1998).
2. According to Hallam (1997b), effective practise is dependent on the level of expertise
attained, with novice students using low-level practicing strategies
3. "Practicing hands alone allows you to actively 'programme' each hand's distinct
function in the successful articulation of a piece's melodic and pianistic aspects," says
the author (Pearce, 2002, p. 10).
4. Advanced music students have highly self-regulated practice habits (Nielsen, 2001), and
self-regulation training could help them improve their performance (Miksza, 2015). Slow
practise
m o r e appears to be an example of self-regulated behaviour

assist a variety of university level pianists in achieving their musical goals, particularly in terms of individual practise habits
determine the root cause of the ineffective practice season, and then determine the effectiveness of practicing hands
separately and slow practice but with hands together
RESEARCH OBJECTIVE

To investigate the efficacy of practice hands separately among

piano major undergraduates
To investigate the efficacy of practice hands together but slowly
bar to bar among piano major undergraduates
To examine how effective ways of piano practice affects piano
major undergraduates.

RESEARCH QUESTION

Do practice hands separately affect the effectiveness of piano

practice among the piano major undergraduates?
Do practice hands hands together but slowly bar to bar affect
the effectiveness of piano practice among the piano major
undergraduates?
What are the causes of inefficient practice sessions and how

does it affect piano major undergraduates?
