1 INTRODUCTION

1.1 The document set outs the lifting plan for the Lifting and unloading Low draft
Pontoon TRITON II using Liebherr HS 895 HD for the “XXXXX” project.

1.2 The lifting plan ensures safe execution and that all predictable risks are taken into
consideration.

1.3 It was prepared following the requirements of Dubai Municipality (DM) and ARCO
IMS.

2 WEIGHTS AND DIMENSIONS OF EQUIPMENT TO BE LIFTED

2.1 The dimensions of the TRITON II are: L=15 m, W=6.5 m, H=2.1m. The certificate
of the TRITON II is attached in Appendix A.

2.2 The weights of the different components to be lifted have been calculated and they
are as follows:

• Low draft Pontoon = 26 tons

• 120tn crane main hook and 4 falls: 1.4 tons
• Lifting gear:
• Wire rope: 1.02 tons
• Shackles : 0.0616 tons
• Total static Load: 28.48 tons
• Dynamic load (x1.15): 32.75 tons

3 LIFTING APPLIANCE

3.1 The TRITON II shall be lifted by a LIEBHERR HS895HD 200t crawler crane located
5 meter away from the revetment area as shown in the lifting plan drawing (Appendix
B). The characteristics of the mobile crane are the following:

• Type: Crawler crane

• Maker/model: LIEBHERR HS895HD
• Maximum capacity: 200 tons
• Counter weight: 75.3 tons
• Car body weight: 27 tons
• Boom length: 52.1 m
• Working radius: 17 m
• Current configuration’s capacity (hook and falls are critical): 40.25tons
• Utilisation of crane capacity: 81.36%

3.2 Refer to Appendix C for further information of the lifting equipment and the weight
calculations in lifting plan

4 DETAILED CALCULATIONS
4.1 Calculations of lifted load related to Crane Capacity

• Weight of Low Draft Pontoon TRITON II:

W’ = 26 ton

• Rigging Weight (Wire rope slings, shackles, crane hook block, and hoist lines):

WEIGHTS CALCULATIONS
120Tn Crane hook Block 1.4 Ton
4 Falls 0.52 Ton
4* 17 tn Shackles 0.061 Ton
4* 42mm 22.2 T, L=12m, Both end Soft Eye Wire Rope 0.5 Ton

RW = 2.48 ton

• Static Hook Load:

SHL = W’ + RW = 26+ 2.48 = 28.48 ton

• Dynamic Amplification Factor (Marine Lifting Operation):

The DAF is derived from GL Noble Denton 0027/ ND, Rev.11, Table 5-1. The jobsite
area is considered as inshore (less than 6km from the shore).

DAF = 1.07 + 0.05 *[(100/SHL) ^ 0.5] = 1.15

• Dynamic Load:

DL = SHL * DAF = 28.48 x 1.15 = 32.75 ton

4.2 Conclusion

Based on the results of the below equation the lifting plan is approved to be done because
the Crane’s SWL exceeds the Dynamic load.

SWL > DL →40.25 ton > 32.75 ton

4.3 Load Calculations during lifting on wire rope slings and shackles

The Low Draft Pontoon TRITON II to be lifted with four (4) Lifting Points. Each one of the
lifting point is connected with 17T Bow shackle & wire rope sling with the double hook
block of the crane. The wire rope and shackle will be loaded with a dynamic load which
will be calculated below. The arrangement of the lifting gear is shown in below sketch

S1.1y = S1.2y = S1.3y= S1.4y = 28.48 ton / 4 (Eq.1)

S1.1y = S1.2y = S1.3y= S1.4y = 7.12

S1.1 = S1.1y / cos (24.1o) ➔ S1.1 = 7.12 ton / 0.981627 ➔ S1.1 = 7.25 tons (Eq. 2)
S1.2 = S1.2y / cos (24.1o) ➔ S1.2 = 7.12 ton / 0.981627 ➔ S2.1 = 7.25 tons (Eq. 3)
S1.3 = S1.1y / cos (24.1o) ➔ S1.3 = 7.12 ton / 0.981627 ➔ S1.1 = 7.25 tons (Eq. 4)
S1.4 = S1.2y / cos (24.1o) ➔ S1.4 = 7.12 ton / 0.981627 ➔ S2.1 = 7.25 tons (Eq. 5)

S1.1max = S1.1 * DAF * COGF * SKL = 7.12*1.15*1.10*1.25= 11.46 tons

S1.2max = S1.2 * DAF * COGF * SKL = 7.12*1.15*1.10*1.25= 11.46 tons
S1.3max = S1.3 * DAF * COGF * SKL = 7.12*1.15*1.10*1.25= 11.46 tons
S1.4max = S1.4 * DAF * COGF * SKL = 7.12*1.15*1.10*1.25= 11.46 tons

TL1 (S1.1, S1.2, S1.3, S1.4) = 11.46 tons

• Wire rope slings:

Nominal Diameter (mm) = 42mm
Safe Working Load (ton) = 22.2 [Vertical Hitch]

According to the GL Noble Denton 0027/ND, Rev. 11, the calculated maximum dynamic
sling load should comply with the following requirements:

o TL = 11.46tn < SWL (Vertical) * DAF = 22 * 1.15 = 25.53 tn

γsf : nominal safety factor for sling

It should be noted that both the termination factor (γs) and bending factor (γb) are considered
equal to (1.0) because the certified items were tested including the relevant arrangement/
fitting at the ends.

o TL = 11.46tn < SWL (Vertical) * DAF = 24.2 * 1.15 = 27.83 tn

γsf : nominal safety factor for sling

It should be noted that both the termination factor (γs) and bending factor (γb) are considered
equal to (1.0) because the certified items were tested including the relevant arrangement/
fitting at the ends.

• Bolt Type Anchor Shackle:

Nominal Diameter (in) = 1-1/2
Safe Working Load (ton) = 17

According to the GL Noble Denton 0027/ND, Rev. 11, the calculated maximum dynamic
shackle load should comply with the following requirements:

o TL2 = 28.53tn < SWL * DAF = 35.0 * 1.15 = 40.25tn

γsf : nominal safety factor for sling

• Chain slings:
Nominal Diameter (in) = Φ32
Safe Working Load (ton) = 31.5

According to the GL Noble Denton 0027/ND, Rev. 11, the calculated maximum dynamic
shackle load should comply with the following requirements:

o TL3 = 24.7tn < SWL * DAF = 31.5 * 1.15 = 36.23tn

γsf : nominal safety factor for sling

7.2.1 Conclusion

Based on the analysis, the Max Tension per sling does not exceed the maximum limited
capacities of the wire rope slings and bolt type anchor shackles that will be used during the
lifting operation.

The Lifting Plan is approved to be done.
