Project Details and Business Flow :
The application "CPC" is an abbreviation for "Converged Pricing Calculator” CPC is a new tool in the VF
environment. This application is to provide better overview of the contract for the customers. The "European
Electronic Communications Code (EECC) - Customer Protection Rules" program covers the evaluation and the
implementation of EECC-induced customer-protection-requirements (EECC Part III) which will impact
Vodafone DE's product design and contractual information/documentation, i.e. handout of a
ContractSummary before the ordering process is finalized, a ban on automatic contract prolongations after an
initial 24 months period, a "Best Tariff advice", the support of a tariff comparison tool to be provided by
Bundesnetzagentur, and additional transparency requirements and limitations for bundled offers. The new
legal requirements will affect the majority of Vodafone's product categories for number-based services
(mobile direct/indirect, fixed, TV, IoT), and both Consumer and Enterprise (Micro/SME/Not-for-profit and
large) customers.

Network elements (like switches, SMSC) produce raw usage called Usage Detail Records (UDRs) or Call Detail
Records (CDRs), which contain information required by the billing system:
 Calling number (First number)
 Called number (the number receiving the call) (Second number)
 When the call started (date and time)
 Call duration
 Call Type (MOC, MTC, MOC stands for Mobile Originated Call, MTC stands for Mobile Terminated Call)
The above raw UDRs from network elements and also from other service providers are received by the billing
system and the billing system converts these into a format understandable by the system. The above
formatted/converted UDR is then guided to find the customer/account to which the call should be charged
and then rate the event accordingly.
The above rated UDRs are then stored in the billing data store, and on the billing cycle date, the billing process
picks up these rated UDRs and processes these and renders bill/invoice, taking into account, the payments,
taxes, discounts, etc.
The customer then pays the bill and the billing system is updated with the payment details.
