Morales ‘SP Member/Ln8 Rep.- On Leave RESOLUTION DECLARING THE CITY OF DIGOS, PROVINCE OF DAVAO DEL SUR UNDER THE STATE OF CALAMITY DUE TO DRY SPELL (EL NINO PHENOMENON) WHEREAS, the adverse effects of El Niflo has caused severe drought which affected the agricultural sector, water resources, livelihood and the environment as well; WHEREAS, the City of Digos as reported by the Office of the Agriculturist during its meetitig had already reported damage due to El Nifio phenomenon; WHEREAS, there are more or less eight (8) low irrigated barangays in Digos City which were affected by the prolonged dry spell; WHEREAS, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council thru the Office of the City Agriculturist has reported several areas particularly the barangays of Igpit, Goma, Dulangan, Balabag, Binaton, Lungag, Matti and San Miguel which are most affected by the dry spell phenomenon; . WHEREAS, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council during its 1 Quarterly Conference on March 18, 2019 adopted Resolution No. 19-001 declaring the City of Digos under the state of calamity due to dry spell; WHEREAS, under the Local Government Code of 1991 specifically Section 458 (iv) thereof provides that the Sangguniang Panlungsod, as the legislative body of the city, shall adopt measures to protect the inhabitants from the harmful effects of man- made or natural disasters and calamities to provide relief services and assistance during and in the aftermath of said disasters or calamities. WHEREFORE, BE IT: RESOLVED, to declare the City of Digos, Province of Davao del Sur under the state of calamity due to dry spell (EI Nifio Phenomenon);(Res. No. 19-106/March 21, 2019) RESOLVED, FINALLY, to furnish a copy of this resolution to the Office of the City Mayor, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, City Planning and Development Coordinator, City Budget Officer, City Accountant, City Treasurer and other offices concerned for their information and guidance, CARRIED.
