Evaluation of the Assessment Process
Key Understandings:
• Evaluation of the assessment process is necessary to inform continuous
improvement
• Evaluation of the assessment process involves:
o Reviewing the quality of the assessment process
o Reviewing the effectiveness of the teaching and learning process
o Deciding on actions that will build on the strengths and improve the
weaknesses for the future

Highlights:
• Strand 7.4 of the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST) requires
teachers to undertake professional reflection and learning to improve practice.

• Considerations in evaluating the assessment process:


• Reviewing the quality of the assessment process entails reviewing all
parts of the assessment process (planning, evidence collection, and
interpretation and use of student data).

• The effectiveness of the teaching and learning process is determined by


summative assessment interpretations, learner progress and other
sources of student data.

• Identifying strengths and weaknesses in assessment practice will help in


deciding on actions to take that will build on the strengths and improve
the weaknesses for the improvement of assessment practice.
