Language is a very important aspect of a person’s life; it defines who we are as

humans, for without it we cannot be called who we are today. Language makes us very
unique among living organisms because we are able to communicate with our own
ideas and thoughts with the use of language. But there are lots of questions that still
linger in our minds. Where did our language start? How did our language start?

How did the language originate? We don’t really have an idea how our language
started, but there are thousands of theories proposed by language experts on how our
language started. These theories are well explained by the possibilities of the start of
language. The Bow-wow theory is the most popular of them all. This is the idea of
human language and vocabulary, which originated as a form of imitation. The Ding-
dong theory, an idea that language began when humans started naming objects,
actions, and phenomena after a relevant sound that was already involved in their
everyday life, Sing-song theory, an idea that language comes out of laughter, play,
courtship, cooing, emotional mutterings, and so on. The Pooh-pooh theory holds that
the first words come from involuntary exclamations of dislikes, hunger, pain, or
pleasure, eventually leading to the expression of more developed ideas and emotions.
The gooh-gooh theory is a baby talk evolution in which a human ancestor mother began
saying "goo goo" and "ba-ba" to her baby to keep in touch. Yo-he-ho theory claims that
language emerged from collective rhythmic labor, the attempt to synchronize muscular
effort resulting in sounds such as heave alternating with sounds such as ho. Biblical
theory states that language started when God punished humanity for arrogance and
disobedience by means of the confusion of tongues. Gesture theory states that
language was developed from gestures that were a primitive form of communication.

The Bow-wow, Ding-dong, and Pooh-pooh theories relate to the natural sounds
of our environment wherein our ancestors imitated the sounds they heard. The Yo-he-
ho and Sing-song theories are somehow related to social interaction, while the Gooh-
gooh theory is a genetic one. If we look and dig deeper into the idea of these theories,
they are all related to each other, from where they came from and where they are
produced.

We can connect the idea of the origin of our language to the origin of the human
species. Scientists also propose dozens of theories on how humans evolved, ranging
from scientific to supernatural theories, each with an explanation that will lead people to
believe. Those two concepts, language and human origins, will give us an idea of how
things began, whether we believe it or not. It is up to us as long as we value what we
have today.

These theories of the origin of language are ways for us to have an idea of how
our languages really started and evolved over time. These claims will give us a hint that
languages all over the world are just like any other things in this world where they also
have pasts and presents. As an English language student, these claims help me to find
out more, seek more, and dig deeper into the history of our languages. These will serve
as our key to opening another adventure of learning, another opportunity to be
knowledgeable about things that relate to human lives. Knowing and finding out the
origins is such an interesting topic that you get curious and are able to analyze things.
Language is the dress of our thoughts. It helps us to put into words the ideas, opinions,
and thoughts we have in our minds that is why learning this is aa great opportunity for
every student.
