Personal Development

(1st Semester)

I. Overview of the Course

This course makes Senior High School students aware of the developmental
stage that they are in, for them to better understand themselves and the significant people
around them as they make important career decisions as adolescents. The course consists of
modules, each of which addresses a key concern in personal development. Using the
experiential learning approach, each module invites students to explore specific themes in
their development. Personal reflections, sharing, and lectures help reveal and articulate
relevant concepts, theories, and tools in different areas in psychology.

II. Objectives

A. Competencies for Learning

Personal Development aims to:

 develop healthy self-esteem, self-confidence, accountability and


responsible autonomy that will enable students to show a respect for
difference and diversity
 encourage students to be creative, innovative and rational thinkers in their
response to challenges in life
 encourage students to have a strong sense of social justice and be able
to respond to social issues for the common good in cooperation with
others
 encourage students to practice healthy behavior and healthy relationships
as a fundamental part of their life
 assist students to think for themselves, developing positive morals and
values while viewing learning as a lifelong endeavor
 enable students to be responsible citizens and role models who can apply
the necessary qualities and skills in order to live happily and productively
in their communities.

The learners shall be able to:

 clearly identify his/her strength and weaknesses.


 explain how relationship with others matter.
 rationalize various roles of different individuals in society.
 analyze the connection between career and personal resources

stages of adolescence development: Early
Adolescence, Middle Adolescence and Late
Adolescence, they have to write the three
major events and powerful experiences that
made a strong influence in their life. In Late
Adolescence they are free to foreshow the
events and persons they wish to be included
in their life journey in the future.

The student needs to produce a short
video with regards on how to deal with
anxiety and mental health during this
time of pandemic.
