Dear Sir/Madam,
My Name is Oscar Lopez and I am writing to you today to express my interest in the Data
Analyst role at LexisNexis Risk Solutions that I have seen advertised on TargetJobs. I am
currently studying for a MSc Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence degree at the
University of Bradford and believe I have the skills and knowledge that can only be enhanced
further if I was successful in obtaining the opportunity.
I have been fortunate enough to have previously been able to obtain work experience
opportunities at established firms, demonstrating my resilience and determination to expand
my knowledge of the practical aptitudes and attitudes required to be successful in the AI
sector. Most recently I was able to undertake work experience in an enterprise zone in
Bradford supporting clients to consider self-employment. In one of my cases I was able to
work with a client who had a vision to start up their own ice-cream business and through
creating an effective business plan, allowed the client to setup a thriving business that has
expanded across Yorkshire. This experience demonstrates my effective communication skills
and ability to offer one-to-one advice to clients.
Moreover I also worked for Smith’s Business Associates, supporting a range of events and
dealing with internal and external clients. One of my roles was to organise a Breakfast
Launch event for small businesses in Bradford and having experienced problems with venue
bookings, I managed to arrange alternative venues for two of the separate events. By also
standing in for my line manager to ensure the smooth running of the events and guest
speakers were arranged and briefed appropriately, demonstrates my ability to solve problems
effectively and lead projects to success.
With a recent rating of ‘Outstanding’ for commitment to learning and creating an open
culture as awarded by ACAS, I am particularly attracted to a company which thrives on
raising aspirations and supporting staff to succeed. I am also attracted by the importance the
company places on sustainability as I strive towards living in a sustainable environment as
my studies and everyday I stive towards sustainable solutions as much as possible.
