Mini Task 3.2 BUILD, BUILD, BUILD PROGRAM

The chairman of Math-sigla Town plans to put up infrastructure to sustain the community’s basic
needs. Due to funding reasons, only 5 infrastructures can be built on the first phase of the
program. As an intern in the engineering department, you are requested to present a layout plan
on what, where and how wide these infrastructures should be. Each infrastructure must be
anchored to the UNITED NATIONS: 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These might include,
schools, hospital, water depot, market etc. The distance between infrastructure should also be
considered based on their circular ground area. Provide a wider radius for more significant
infrastructure.

The following illustration shows the 17 Sustainable Development Goals designed by the United
Nations to be a "blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all". These are
intended to be achieved by the year 2030.

The coordinates of the center and radius shall be identified. Furthermore, you should write the
equations of each circle in standard and general form. A sample layout and computation are
shown in the next pages. Please make sure to follow the given format to get full marks. The
pointing system and rubric for grading are also provided for you to assess your own work.
Your output will be evaluated using the following criteria:
Accuracy of Computation 25 points
Relevance 15 points
Creativity 10 points
TOTAL 50 points

The rubric for grading is shown in the table below

Reminders:

 This is an individual task

 Propose 5 infrastructures that is anchored on the 17 sustainable development goals.
 You may graph each circle digitally or by-hand.
 Graph exactly 5 circles with different radius.
 Label each circle (ie "school") as shown in the sample.
 There must be no overlapping circles
 The sum of five circles must cover most area of the town map.
 Follow the given format-solution to get full marks.
 A deduction of 1 point per day of late submission is applied.

Circle A (Water Depot): Goal #6 Clean Water and Sanitation. Building a water depot provides
clean and sustainable water that can benefit the inhabitants. It is utilized for drinking, home use,
and recreational purposes such as a swimming pool. The radius of the water depot is small
because it is a water station for the inhabitants to have safe and readily available water.

Circle B (Church): Goal #16 Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. Building a church is
important because it promotes fellowship among people. The radius of the church is medium
because it is a refuge for people who need guidance and acceptance.

Circle C (Market): Goal #8 Decent Work and Economic Growth. Building a market is essential.
Its purpose is to highlight daily purchasing needs such as goods that are often farmed or
manufactured locally. Local businesses can benefit from a good and productive market. Building
a successful market help expand the economy of the community. The radius of the market is
smaller than the hospital and school because it provides the material needs of the people.

Circle D (School): Goal #4 Quality Education. Building a school provides an education that can
teach children to become better citizens of this community. Education teaches them the value of
hard work while also assisting them in growth and development. The radius of the school is big
because it provides opportunities for the personal and social development of the student.

Circle E (Hospital): Goal #3 Good Health and Well-Being. Building a hospital can anticipate
needs and provide care for the people. Hospitals are seen as havens for the sick as well as a
source of assistance and healing. The radius of the hospital is big because of its availability to
society and its intent is to treat people.
