 PROPORTION
If a : b = c : d, then a, b, c and d are in proportion.
If a : b = c : d, then a * d = b * c
i.e., Product of means = Product of extremes.
d is called the fourth proportional to a, b, c.

If a : b = b : c, then b2=ac, b= √(ac).

• c is called the third proportion to a and b.
• b is called mean proportional to a and c.
Are the ratios 4:5 and 8:10 in Proportion?

Answer: Since both the ratios are equal, they are said to be in proportion.
