INTRODUCTION
Academic performance is the outcome of students’ effort in examinations. A variety of
factors influence students' academic achievement. The total average score, as well as the average scores from the previous semesters, are used to assess academic success. It is a major area of interest everywhere to understand the factors that influence academic performance. To understand the elements that affect academic achievement, several studies have been conducted globally. A few factors that have been studied in connection to school performance include learning styles, socioeconomic status, and parental educational history. Every educational system places a high priority on students' Senior High School academic performance. While many factors have been researched that affect students' academic performance, many issues still exist. A review of the related literature in this field would highlight any gaps and areas in need of additional study and help to significantly reduce the problem. The literature on senior high school student’s academic performance and various factors influencing students' performance was reviewed and explained how these factors have a negative impact on academic performance and the necessity of reducing them in order to raise students' academic achievement. The study discovered that family problems have a significant negative impact on the academic performance of students. It also discovered that several other elements, including vices, peers, and parents' educational and financial status, have a significant impact on student’s academic achievement at school. Academically, strong students who are favorably exposed to these elements are less likely to do better than students who are positively exposed. To fulfill students' needs and goals, the research advises that aspects including parental education and income levels, and teachers should be regularly evaluated and improved. This will significantly enhance students' academic performance and, as a result, help them attain their life goals. It is important to study the factors that affect the academic performance of senior high school students since they are about to enter college and because higher academic achievement results in better opportunities in life.
