India is a developing country and the Indian market for Electric Vehicle is very different from
the global market. In India, all the vehicles are fuel based that emit greenhouse gases and cause
global warming. Hence, it is high time for India to find out alternatives and introduce clean
alternatives in the transportation system. For sustainable transportation, EV is the best alternative
with zero emission of harmful gases which makes it environment friendly. Adding to this, Indian
Government is taking up initiatives for domestic manufacturing of EVs. Few players in the
Indian Automobile market have launched their EV but they are at a very high price like
Mahindra Reva, Tata Nexon EV Etc. Some of the advantages of EV is that they do not produce
sound unlike conventional vehicles.  Battery operated cars operate in almost complete silence
except noise from the tires. Conversion of the conventional vehicle into the plug-in hybrid
electric vehicle by retrofitting may have a tremendous market in India.

Perception and Purchase Intention of Electric Vehicles. Retrieved from

There are various reasons of an individual for buying an Electric Vehicle. The research has
shown that the primary reason of preference of EV is environment concern. However, the social
acceptance of EV is least, and the study suggests that vehicle manufacturers and government
have to invest more on social acceptance by instilling trust and focusing more on technology.
The research depicts that consumer are aware of environmental benefits of EV, but consumer
perception has to be created and modeled to increase the sale of EV in India. The study also
revealed that comfort and intention to buy the electric vehicle is positively correlated. Moreover,
acceptability among young respondents was comparatively higher but acceptability level among
rural respondents is comparatively lower. Hence, purchase intention depends on several factors
and the Indian market is yet to develop the acceptance of EV especially in rural areas.

This Research paper is about Awareness and Perception of people towards Electric Cars.
According to this, Awareness is the firsts thing to consider when we are considering taking
people perception about Electric Vehicles. This Research Paper is to find about awareness
among people and there afterwards taking perception of those who are aware about Electric cars.
These perceptions will ultimately help government and manufacturing companies to make more
people lure towards electric cars and thereby this will help towards trying for zero carbon
emission. In respect to conclusion of this research paper, education lies on the epitome when it
comes to awareness among people. People are not aware about the Electric car specific features
and government benefits towards ownership of Electric cars. People Perceive that they are more
influenced for purchase mostly family members, friends, and word of mouth.

Global population is burgeoning with a very significant percentage that will lead more vehicles
on road which will ramification on our environment. Here, we come across what the main
leading factors which are affecting people perception towards electronic vehicles. Though this
study has its own limitation as it is done quickly so it might not present the actual results, sample
population is quite low and major limitation is that it is done during Covid-19 lockdown and
when prices of petrol/diesel are high, and it might impact respondents’ perception at that time
