India is a country with the third-largest road network in the world.

In India, road travel appeared

to be the main mode of transportation, with over 60% of the population commuting by personal
or shared vehicles. Conventional vehicles contribute significantly to global warming and air
pollution. Dust is produced by all sorts of cars due to brakes, tires, and road wear. The typical
diesel vehicle has a worse effect on air quality than the average gasoline vehicle. However, both
gasoline and diesel vehicles pollute the environment more than electric vehicles. With the current
depletion of fossil fuels and its price spike, there is a need for other energy sources to drive the
car. Electric vehicles are being considered by India's automobile industry as a solution to the
country's industry and environment. Despite countries enacting EV policies, the current market
penetration of EVs is very low. Through this research potential scope of Electric vehicles in
India will be studied and Consumer perception for the same will be analyzed.

This study discusses how to understand consumers' perceptions and awareness of electric
automobiles on the market. Many individuals rely on automobiles to make a living. Electric
vehicles are a viable alternative to gasoline-powered vehicles. The majority of international
countries have adopted electric vehicles. Electric automobiles will reduce pollution throughout
the environment. To demonstrate, examine consumer perceptions, knowledge with electric
vehicles, information sources, and desire to switch to electric vehicles. The questionnaire will
serve as the examination's principal tool. The examination's respondents will be picked using a
convenience sample method.

Essentially, this paper is an in-depth examination of customer attitudes and opinions of green
automobiles. It aims to answer basic questions that influence consumer knowledge and
preference for environmentally friendly vehicles over conventional vehicles. The researcher
looked at 100 people in and around Mangalore Taluk who were chosen at random for this
investigation. It was carried out in the months of January and February of 2018.
Objective of research
1. To know the future need and perception of the people towards electric vehicle.
2. To compare the electric vehicle with other mode in focus with performance.
The study concludes that the electric vehicle concept is optimal in both theory and practise. More
research is theoretically required. In this field, there is a lot of room for investigation. As a result,
scholars have been encouraged to pursue PhD studies in this field. In practise, the country
requires an alternative to gasoline and diesel vehicles. As a result, EV must be pushed. When we
examine the data, we are confident in our assessment of the impact of cars on the environment.
And electrical vehicles will give solution to it by one extent.

Perception and Purchase Intention of Electric Vehicles in India. Retrieved from

The major goal of this research is to examine Indian consumers' perceptions about electric
vehicles and their intentions to purchase them. As India struggles with environmental issues, the
government is enacting regulations that would encourage the sale of electric vehicles, allowing
the country to reach the United Nations' climate targets of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Furthermore, India is one of the world's largest car markets, with a significant growth potential
for electric vehicles. To investigate the problem statement, this study uses a quantitative
approach and surveys. In this study, the impact of factors influencing consumers' propensity to
acquire electric vehicles and the level of consumer perception regarding electric vehicles in India
is empirical.
