Description
The VirPath Sars-CoV-2 multiplex qRT-PCR kit is intended to be used for the detection of Sars-CoV-2 genomic RNA extracted from
biological samples derived from lower or upper respiratory tract specimens collected by a healthcare provider.
Lab Results
Outcome Cq Values Details Baseline parameters
The reference detection threshold for the SARS-CoV-2 targets (N1 and E)
E: - IC detected, and the internal control (the human RPP30 gene - IC) is a Cq<40. The
NEGATIVE N1: - N1 not detected, detection of both targets is required to indicate a positive sample.
RP (IC): 27.35 E not detected Conversely, both targets must not be detected and the IC must be
detected to identify a negative sample.
Interpretation
The limit of detection (LoD) on sputum/saliva has been identified to be between 750 and 500 copies/ml. Negative results do not preclude
SARS-CoV-2 infection and should not be used as the sole basis for patient management decisions. Negative results must be combined with
clinical observations, patient history, and epidemiological information
Disclaimer
This test is used for qualitative detection of SARS-CoV-2 RNA from human oropharyngeal and nasopharyngeal swabs. The results cannot directly reflect the
viral load in the original specimens. The LoD is determined based on spike-in tests of viral loads into negative sputum/saliva samples. When SARS-CoV-2
presents at or above the LoD concentration in the test specimen, there will be a low probability that SARS-CoV-2 is not detected. When SARS-CoV-2 presents
below the LoD concentration in the test specimen, there will also be certain probability that SARS-CoV-2 can be detected. Primers and probes for this test
target highly conserved regions within the genome of SARS-CoV-2. Mutations occurring in these highly conserved regions (although rare) may result in RNA
being undetectable.

Notification
Your coronavirus (COVID-19) test result is negative. You did not have the virus when the test was done.
If you took the test on day 2 of your quarantine you must continue to quarantine until you have completed the 10-day quarantine period
and received a negative test result for a test taken on day 8. If you took the test on day 8 you may stop quarantine when you have
completed your 10-day quarantine period.
-you get symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) – get an NHS coronavirus (COVID-19) test from www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test and
self-isolate until you get the results
-you’re going into hospital (self-isolating until the date you go in)
-someone you live with tests positive
-you have been traced as a contact of someone who tested positive
For advice on when you might need to self-isolate and what to do, go to www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19 and read ‘Self-
isolation and treating symptoms’.
It’s a legal requirement to quarantine when you arrive in England. If you are contacted by the enforcement authorities or the police after
you have received this negative result please show them this notification.
More information
What you must do when you arrive in England from abroad depends on where you have been in the 10 days before you arrive. Please
check the following link for more information regarding entering the UK:

Attention
This page alone is NOT a valid COVID-19 Certificate. Your COVID-19 RT-PCR Analysis Certificate is on the previous page.
