Lesson Components:
Phase one: Start by giving students a quick history on fables. Read a short
fable and ask the following:
What do you think will happen next?
Who are the main characters?
What has happened so far in the story?
Do you see any issues arising for a certain character and why?
Phase two: Finish each fable. What did each fable have in common?
What is the moral of the stories? Provide a clear and concise
definition for class.
What lesson can be learned?
What are some other fables we may know from outside the
classroom?
Phase three: Draw part of the story that most stuck out to you.
Create your own fable and/or write a personal narrative of a
lesson you learned in life.
What lesson do you think is most important in life so far?

Evaluation:

The biggest take away is, is the student able to understand the concepts read and
morals of each story. By inductive thinking are they able to induce what will
happen next? What the likely “moral of the story” will be. By not only inductive
reasoning but hands on experience the students will have a better concept and
knowledge of fables. As an exit evaluation students will write what the students
favorite moral of the story is and why in a paragraph.
