Positive Self Concept Model

Lesson Title: I AM

Targeted Grade Level: 5th grade

Academic Subject: Technology

Lesson Goals:

Students will build upon their use of technology in the classroom specifically
Microsoft Word, as well as their self-esteem and positive self-concept.
TEKS:
Creativity and innovation. The student uses creative thinking and innovative
processes to construct knowledge and develop digital products. The student is
expected to:
(A) create original products using a variety of resources;
(F) revised August 2020 perform basic software application functions, including
opening applications and creating, modifying, printing, and saving files.
(5) Digital citizenship. The student practices safe, responsible, legal, and ethical
behavior while using digital tools and resources. The student is expected to:
(A) adhere to acceptable use policies reflecting positive social behavior in the digital
environment;

Lesson Objectives:

 Microsoft Word Collage


 Students will make an I Am collage using tools in Microsoft word to showcase
their unique and favorite characteristics of themselves.

 Access to Microsoft word

Students should already have the basic concepts of Microsoft word. This lesson will
focus on using the Insert tool and how to save and download an image to use for
their collage. Students can focus on sizing their images and words, and what words
are more important to them. This allows for an opportunity to help students build
a healthy and positive self-esteem.

Activity: In the Center of each word document students will add a text box with
students name first and last. Then students may choose a number of positive
images that represents themselves or their likes. This can be anything as long as it
is school appropriate. The image must have meaning to the student. Now it is time
to choose words! Positive words that the student feels describe themselves or their
personality.
Students may also add words they would like to encompass in the future like job
roles or future leader, etc.

Students may be as creative as they like and use the tools in MW to their
advantage.

Evaluation:

Students will be graded on a rubric of a 1-5, 5 being the student exceeded


expectations.
