UNDERSTANDING THE SELF

Doctolero, Michael Jay I.

1. What do you think will happen to the community and to our

country if the minors and young adults engage in
pornographic activities.Why?

Pornographic activities will have an impact on young

people's health, sexual practices, attitudes, and social
relationships. We will be nothing if we do not take action on these
issues. While sexually explicit material is frequently discussed in
terms of free speech, far too little is said about its devastating
effect on users and their families.
Today, we hope to shed some light on what pornography is
doing to our society, particularly to children and families.
Pornographic activities at such a young age will only ruin their
lives. It will have an impact not only on them, but also on those
around them.
We often say that "youth are the hope of our country," but we
have done nothing to address this issue. If these pornographic
activities continue to spread, I believe we will be unable to control
them, and our community and country will be unable to fulfill their
purpose.
2. When you become a parent and it happens that you see
your son/ daughter seeing a pornographic materials, what will
you do? Why?

As a parent, I must remain calm if my child comes across

pornographic materials. Following that, I will listen to what their
thoughts are after seeing the materials. I assure them that they are
in no danger. It is the best way to start a conversation if both of
you are calm. I'll let them express their concerns about the
materials they saw to me. I'll ask them how they react when they
see pornographic material. I'll explain to them what a sex actually
is. Conversations about love and intimacy are essential.
Discussions about boundaries, appropriate age and timing for
intimacy, and other personal values related to sex and love are
also common. To summarize, the problem has been resolved.
After that, ask them if they want to see those materials again. This
is something we should take seriously for our child's or children's
safety and to keep them from engaging in such pornographic
activities. In an ideal world, you would have started having positive
conversations about sex and intimacy with your children at a
young age. You may not have intended to have a conversation
about pornography, but accidental exposure to this type of content
necessitates a response.
