I'm Jaffy F.

Bustamante, an upcoming fourth-year student pursuing a bachelor's degree in

Environmental Science. In the moment, I'm living at #36 De Leon Street in Barangay Don
Ramon Anao, Tarlac.
After 5 weeks of mapping in various parts of Tarlac, I digitized a total of 14, 785
buildings. I also mapped 73 kilometers of roads and gathered and entered 164 POIs (points of
interest) in OpenStreeMap.
We all have heard the saying, "The beginning is always the hardest", and I thought that
explains my first day on internship. I can't say that I feel easy on my first day. I don’t know what
to do. I don’t even know whether to feel excited or nervous because I will enter a new
environment and meet a new companion.

This semester, many students discovered a new type of college experience after their
campuses shut down amid the coronavirus pandemic. As one of the trainees, I faced numerous
difficulties. I have problems with my internet connection. I also have troubles with my PC
shutting down intermittently, which frustrates me at times, but I know that this is just a
challenge.

Apart from mapping and digitizing buildings all across Tarlac, I learned that it is critical
to perform well during OJT, especially today that there is fierce rivalry for job seekers and high-
qualification firms. On-the-Job Training is one approach of allowing students to put their
classroom knowledge and abilities into practice. It also assists students in gaining relevant
knowledge and skills by allowing them to perform in a real-world situation.

I also learned that good leadership allows me to develop a vision and push others to help
make it a reality. A competent leader can motivate everyone in an organization to do their very
best. As a result, I always do my best to aid and oversee my groupmates' efforts. Because I
believe that effective leadership makes the process easier and delivers results, I also supplied
advice on how they might better their job or replace their output if it is incorrect.

Furthermore, I have learned the value of time. In our lives, time is quite important. We
can develop a healthy habit of planning and managing our everyday tasks by using time. You can
gain experience and build talents through time if you better grasp the value of time. Because you
can't get it back, time is the most valuable resource.
