To get started, Peru has beautiful places to visit, spend a few days and enjoy its

beautiful landscapes. But let's move to the Peruvian jungle, the best place to visit is
Tarapoto because it is different from the others; apart from a pleasant climate,
impressive landscapes, the kindness of its people, its tranquility, the excellent stews,
among other characteristics that give distinction to this beautiful "place" of the
amazon, stand out.
Tarapoto is also known as the city of palm trees, it has dense vegetation, a diverse
fauna and a warm climate that allows outdoor activities as long as it is not rainy
season.

For this reason, the best months to travel to this paradisiacal site are from June to
December, when the sky is sunnier. To avoid the rainy season, try to take March and
April out of your travel itinerary.

But, what can we do in Tarapoto? Once you are in this hot and humid Peruvian city
there is plenty to do

1. A tour of the Azul Sauce lagoon

It looks like a huge mirror of water with the Miracocha volcano watching over it, tour
operators will take you on a 5-kilometer tour in wooden boats.
During the trip you will be able to see the typical birds of the region, go fishing, enjoy
cultural activities such as dancing and other artistic expressions.
Nearby there are hotels and restaurants where you can stop to eat and have a nice
time.
To get there you have to cross the Huallaga River, from which the city offers
transport service by raft. The whole trip takes approximately three hours.

2. Carpishoyaku Waterfalls
Tourists and locals agree that this is the most beautiful waterfall in Tarapoto. There
are two waterfalls that at the end form a natural pool with an intense green color.
Most of the tours to this place include a bath in the hot springs of San Jose, which are
only a 10-minute walk from the waterfall.
Since it is in the jungle, the tour can be a bit complicated, with steep slopes and you
will even have to cross the river on a small raft. However, all this is compensated by
the exuberant scenery that you will appreciate during the entire journey.

4. A hike to the Ahuashiyacu Waterfalls

Its name means "singing water". Those who visit it want to return, because everything
around it is magic, ferns, orchids, a diversity of trees and fauna come together to
offer a great spectacle to the eye.
Once in the place you can swim, snorkel, go bird watching, walk the trails of the area
and of course take lots of pictures.

5. Visit the Urku Center

This is a reserve for the protection of animals, it is a sanctuary and home to rescued
wildlife in the Peruvian jungle that have been mistreated and then reintroduced into
their natural habitat.
They offer a unique experience where you can see animals up close and in the middle
of nature. It is a tour that lasts approximately 45 minutes, so it is a good idea to take
a moment of the day and then continue with your scheduled activities.
Did you think Tarapoto was only a jungle? Well, you're wrong, this is a thriving city that
has grown a lot, thanks to tourism. So in the heart of the town you can enjoy a modern
commercial life.
The hotel infrastructure offers a variety of activities to do, if one day you do not feel
like nature tourism you can stay in one of the hotels to enjoy the facilities.
There are also plenty of nightclubs to dance, eat and drink with friends. Most of them
serve exotic drinks worth trying.

As I already mentioned, the first thing you should consider is the best date to travel
to Tarapoto to avoid the rainy season. Once you have planned the day you will start
your trip, it is very important that you follow these tips that will help you live an
incredible experience:

- Most of the activities in the Peruvian jungle include long walks, so you should go
prepared for it. Bring sunglasses to protect you from the sun, binoculars so you
can better appreciate the birds and sunscreen Spf 50 for your skin.
- Wear preferably cotton clothing, as it is cool and light. In the jungle area of
Peru it is very hot, so to enjoy the walk it is preferable that your clothes are
comfortable.
- Insect repellent is essential both day and night, because in some areas
mosquitoes are very annoying.
- If you are not vaccinated against yellow fever and tetanus, it is recommended
that you do so at least 10 days before your trip.
- You should always have a container of water with you. You will be hiking
extensively and should try to stay hydrated at all times.

On the other hand, getting around in Tarapoto is not a problem, you will find a variety
of options and ways to reach your destinations. It is very characteristic of the city
the use of motocars that provide public transportation service, in fact this is the main
means of transportation in the area for many years.
The benefit of using the motocars is that you will enjoy the wind and it can even be
fun, something that can be an excellent option to placate the feeling of heat that is
generated in the city.
