HIGHWAY TRAFFIC VIOLATOR SENSOR

I.INTRODUCTION
In 2016, the Insurable Information Institute (III) estimated 60% of accidents were result of a
traffic violation (Thomaslawoffices.com). According to the latest statistics of (WHO) more than
1.2 million people unfortunately pass away due to traffic crashes every year with an additional 20-
50 million non-fatal injuries. Poor driving doesn’t just increase the risk of accident and injury—it
also slows down traffic and increases delays for other motorists (worldmarket.com). Human
factors caused more than 86% of China’s traffic crashes (China’s statistics). A policy on Geometric
Design on highways and streets reports than 70% of traffic crashes are related to human factors
(green book).
To maximize road safety and to help reduce traffic congestion, Hikvision has created a
Traffic Violation Detection Solution, which detects traffic and parking violations across the road
network in real time (worldmarket.com). However, this invention focuses on ensuring the safety
of motorists and that infractions are recorded and notified (securityworldmarket.com). Hence,
improving the safety of intersections and upgrading highway technology has been the priority of
our country.
Automatic devices has been popularly used these days, having a technology that effectively
senses and records violation on our highway will surely help our community for faster detection
of violation and the authorities to focus on major crimes. This invention will rapidly improve the
capacity of our country in tracking violations and violators.

II. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The study aims to create a program that can be a robot to perform traffic violator tasks.
This study seeks to answer the following research question:
1. Can the sensor be accurate after fifteen (15) trials?
2. How can the program sense the violator?
3. Is there any limits of violators that the robot can detect?

III. HYPOTHESIS
Ho: The sensor will identify zero (0) violators.
Ho: The Highway Traffic Violator Sensor will accurately identify traffic violators with no
errors.
IV. CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK
The study focuses on the highway traffic violator sensor.

VII. PROPOSED MATERIALS

The materials will be used in the study are the following: a camera to capture and identify
violators, scrap metals to be made as a stabilizer or a stand for the sensor, Arduino to be
programmed in the camera, computer to program everything, and the sensor for the camera.

VIII. PROPOSED PROCEDURES

Collection and preparation of materials
Scrap metals will be gathered in a local junkshop in Kalibo, Aklan. Sensors and cameras
will be bought in an appliance store online. The materials will first be checked if it is complete and
if there are no signs of damaged parts. It will then be gathered and stored in a storage near the
workplace. We will build the robot with the help of an adult sponsor.
IX. RISK AND SAFETY
Proper protocol for where to put the sensor and handling its physical self is needed.
