Titanium Archwires (NiTi-SE)
Since the discovery of the “shape memory effect” in the
late 1950’s, NiTi has very much become a part of the
modern orthodontic world, allowing clinicians to offer
patients a more effective and comfortable method of
treatment, for better result over shorter periods of time.
NiTi-SE is a Superelastic NiTi archwire designed to be
fully active (austenitic) at room temperature. It offers
clinicians excellent resiliency and high flexibility
characteristics, exhibiting the concept of true
superelasticity , recovering from bends and
deformation angles ranging from 450 - 750. Predictable,
light and continuous forces are delivered to maximum
efficiency thanks to the consistently accurate arch forms
NiTi-SE is available in. Torque and rotation are achieved

 NiTi-SE Aesthetic Coated
Superelastic Nickel Titanium Aesthetic Coated Archwire

Research indicates that 25% of wire coating is lost within
the first month. OSL extremely durable archwires do not
lose their coating as they are made of two different
layers- the first is silver and the second, bio-polymer. This
is the only aesthetic arch wire which uses these
approved materials.OSL combine high elasticity and
resistance to deformation of superelastic nickel
titanium archwires with the best aesthetics. The tooth
coloured coating is very stiff and resistant to oral liquid
absorption, therefore a reduced friction is obtained
when used with metal and cosmetic brackets.

Even in today’s world of modern orthodontic
treatments a simple fact is often overshadowed by all
the hype and publicity surrounding the various brackets
systems available; archwires move teeth, not brackets.
We understand that as clinicians its critical for you to
choose the correct archwire for the patient. Achieving
the desired result for each individual patient as
efficiently as possible with minimum chairside/
treatment time and maximum comfort are the goals of
all clinicians.
NiTi-HS offers the clinician a heat-activated Niti archwire
provided in its soft, pliable (martensitic) state designed
to deliver high flexibility and allow easy ligation and slot
engagement, even when presented with the most
difficult of malocclusions; the characteristics of a true
shape memory wire.
The wire is engineered to have a consistent nominal
transformation temperature of between 27°C-32°C
where it becomes active (austenitic) and delivers its

OSL offer five Reverse Curve of Spee (RCS) archwire
shapes to meet your correction of curve of spee needs.
All are carefully finished to ensure that the wire slides
easily through the bracket slot and applies continuous
force for ideal movement. RCS can be used for bite
correction or, with springs and elastomerics, for
retraction.
Also available in NiTi-SE RCS.
NiTi-HS RCS are shape-memory, heat-activated wires
which are soft at room temperature for easy ligation and
become fully active in the mouth. The gentle forces
remain consistent throughout placement and are
noticeably more comfortable for the patient. The superb
flexibility reduces the chance of debonding brackets.

Our Stainless Steel (SS) archwires are produced from
high quality medical grade type 304VSS material. Their
highly polished surfaces provide reduced friction
between bracket and arch and their high forces are well
suited for stabilising positioned teeth during to mid to

precise torque control for these same stages.

OSL is proud to announce the release of TiNi-Cu
archwires, making us the first UK-based company to be
able to supply a copper enhanced Nickel Titanium wire
that delivers remarkable performance when compared
with Ormco®’s Copper Ni-Ti™ archwires.
The thermo-dynamic characteristics of our high quality
NiTi archwires are dramatically enhanced with the
addition of highgrade copper during the
manufacturing process. This leads to the production of
archwire capable of precise, optimal toothmoving
force delivery, so that consistent tooth movement
becomes the end result.
Compared to various forms of NiTi available on today’s
market, TiNi-Cu has many advantages:
• TiNi-Cu exhibits considerably smaller loading
forces for the same level of deformation as other
types of archwire, allowing for significantly
easier slot engagement in patients who present
with severe malocclusion’s ultimately leading to
greater patient comfort and reducing the

tooth moving forces is the result of a reduction
in hysteresis and a supine unloading curve, an
effect of adding copper to the wire, providing a
much longer activation period
• TiNi-Cu has been designed to take full
advantage of the natural thermal-transfer
properties of copper, providing consistent
transformation temperatures (TTR) on a batch
to batch basis the result being consistent tooth
moving forces
• The addition of copper greatly heightens TiNi-
Cu’s resistance to permanent deformation with
the added benefit of much better spring-back
characteristics.
TiNi-Cu is available in two different forms which allow
the clinician to tailor treatment plans to suit the need of
each individual patient.

In recent years the field of Orthodontics has seen a
gradual increase in patients who exhibit symptoms of
Nickel sensitivity which precludes their eligibility from
standard methods of treatment involving Nickel-
Titanium arch wires. One option to circumvent the issue
would be to use Stainless Steel across all stages of
treatment as would have been the method adopted
many years ago.
We now know that this was and still is something to be
avoided for many reasons, least of which is the level of
discomfort experienced by the patient.
Thankfully OSL offer a much more effective and
clinically sound option; Beta 3-Titanium.
Our Beta 3-Ti has been engineered such that it can be
utilized during the mid to final phases of treatment. A
number of benefits can be utilized through careful

application of Beta 3-Ti's intrincis stiffness and resiliency.
Beta 3-Ti expresses optimal forces for tooth movement
but with much gentler application, typically 40% - 50%
less, than Stainless Steel, delivering far greater comfort
to patients who fall under the nickel sensitive
demographic or simply have a low tolerance for
discomfort. Furthermore rectangular wires can be used
for torque correction much earlier in a treatment plan.
Another benefit to Beta 3-Ti is its formability which
affords clinicians chair-side placement of intricate loops
and bends with a view to space closure, tipping and
focused tooth movement.
Each arch form has been designed to deliver specific
results dependant on the desired patient outcome,
meeting all the targets you're aiming for to give the best
possible treatment.

Compression springs
Compression (Open-Coil) springs from OSL are
manufactured using the same high grade Nickel
Titanium material used in our archwires meaning
clinicians benefit from the same excellent performance
characteristics inherent with the material in terms of
efficient force delivery.
Compressed during placement each spring is then
capable of exerting continuous tooth-moving forces in
degrees of light, medium or heavy to create spacing
between teeth.
Our Compression springs are available in both variable
force and Superelastic form, offering clinicians a wide
Distalising Springs
OSL recognizes the fact that headgear isn't always ideal,
especially where non-compliant patients are
concerned. We decided that clinicians need to have a
different option available to them when presented with
class II malocclusions and so we've developed a truly
excellent range of Distalising Springs. The gentle,
constant forces generated from the Superelastic Nickel
Titanium the springs are made from, move molars into
position with ease.
Extension Springs
Extension (Closed-Coil) sprints from OSL allow clinicians
to close or maintain space between teeth with added
comfort for the patient thanks to our unique, pre-
attached key-end eyelet system. Our key-ends have
been designed with rounded edges and a smooth finish
using hi8gh grade Stainless Steel. Each key-end is
manufactured with a round hole through the centre to
allow easy attachment of the spring to TAD's hooks, or
brackets during treatment.
The unique key-end eyelet design, coupled with added
benefit of the actual spring itself being mad from high
grade Nickel Titanium, makes our range of Extension
sprints the perfect choice for today's clinician.

Retainer (Ti-Max)
Ti-Max is produced from pure titanium for maximum
biocompatibility; this retainer is flattened for patient
comfort while providing sufficient space for improved
dental hygiene by the patient and the dental
professional. The surface of the retainer is processed for
maximum adhesion to orthodontic adhesives that
minimizes the chance of band failure. The material is
desgined to form easily to the morphology of the
enamel (tooth) whilst remaining passive and producing
no spring action which would result in the unwanted
movement of teeth. The passive behaviour of the
retainer remains even if it is accidentaly debonded
