COMPUTER SYSTEMS SERVICING NCII

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson the students are expected to:
a. define system unit;
b. identify the parts and functions of computer
hardware;
c. identify the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)
Procedures;
d. identify the step-by-step process on how to
disassemble and assemble the system unit.

III. TEACHING PROCEDURE/LEARNING ACTIVITIES

A. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES

1. Prayer The teacher will ask one of the students to lead the prayer.
“Thank you for leading the prayer.”
2. Greetings Good morning students!
3. Classroom Before we start, kindly arrange your chairs and sit
Management properly.
4. Checking of I will be checking your attendance today, please say
Attendance present if your name is called.
Wow, all of you are present today! Congratulations!!!
B. MOTIVATION Make students imagine that computer does not exist, ask
how they feel.

“Okay, thank you, this is the reason why I asked you this it
is because our lesson for today has something related
with it.”

The teacher will show some pictures, the Part of the

System Unit and they will name it.

“Very good answer class”. All your answers are correct.

Let us proceed now to our proper discussion.
C. DISCUSSION “Today our topic is about Disassemble and Assemble of
System Unit.” but let’s define first what is System Unit.

System Unit is an enclosure of all the main interior

components of a computer.
PARTS OF COMPUTER HARDWARE
 Hard Disk - A rigid metal disk coated with a
magnetic material on which data for a computer can
be stored.
 Motherboard - It is the main circuit board of a
microcomputer.
 Power Supply - This enables different power
supplies to be interchangeable.
 Heat Sink - It transfers heat generated within a solid
material to a fluid medium.
 System Case - Also known as a computer chassis.
 RAM - The part of a computer in which information
is stored temporarily when a program is being used.
 CPU - The brain of the computer.
 DVD ROM - Designed to optically access data
stored on a DVD.
 Video Card - An expansion card which generates a
feed of output images.
 System Fan - Any fan inside, or attached to a
computer case used for active cooling.

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY (OHS)

PROCEDURE
1. Plan, prepare and secure work area.
2. Remove metal and non-metal accessories from the
body.
3. Electro Static Discharge (ESD).
4. Use anti-static wrist strap.
5. Remove food and any liquid substances from work
area.
6. Use proper hand tools and equipment.
7. Unplug system unit from wall socket or electrical
socket.
8. Housekeeping.

STEPS ON HOW TO DISASSEMBLE A SYSTEM UNIT

1. Unplugging all the cables and wires.
2. Opening the computer case.
3. Removing all the connectors.
4. Removing the CPU Fan.
5. Removing the CPU.
6. Detaching the Power Supply
7. Detaching the Hard Drive.
8. Removing the Memory.

STEPS ON HOW TO ASSEMBLE A SYSTEM UNIT

1. Install the Memory.
2. Install the Hard Drive.
3. Install the Power Supply.
4. Install the CPU.
5. Install the CPU Fan.
6. Connect all the connectors.
7. Close the computer case.
8. Plug on the cables.

D. GENERALIZATION Disassembling a computer is a process in which we

remove all the parts of a system unit while assembling a
computer is a process in which we combined all the
needed parts of a computer to be functional. And we
analyse the correct procedure placement of function of
each part in order to make a computer functional and
ready to use.

IV. EVALUATION “Please get a one whole piece of paper and write your
answer.”

TEST I. IDENTIFICATION
1. The brain of the computer.
2. An expansion card which generates a feed of
output images.
3. The part of a computer in which information is
stored temporarily when a program is being
used.
4. It is the main circuit board of a microcomputer.
5. A rigid metal disk coated with a magnetic
material on which data for a computer can be
stored.

TEST II. ENUMERATION (20 points)

1. Give 4 OHS Procedure.
2. Give the Steps in Disassembling and Assembling
System Unit.

“Okay class, time is up. Please pass your paper.”

V. ASSIGNMENT “For your assignment for tomorrow, kindly copy this on
your notebook.”

1. What is Operating System?

2. Enumerate on how to install Operating System.

“Goodbye class take care and see you all tomorrow.”
