QUESTION 1

a) There are three industrial revolutions. First is the age of mechanical


production. These technical advance are include mechanization, water power
, steam power and other. In this time they are having difficult of factory life.
It is because there are an unskilled factory laborers. They also need to work
for a long hours in unsafe condition. But , these advance industrialization is
created a skilled workers so their industries will grow quickly. Second of
industrial revolutions is the age of science and mass production. In these
revolutions, they need to find way to started speed up with the number of key
invention. For the example, gasoline engines, chemical fertilizer and airplanes
are needed to improve the industries. The third industrial revolutions is the
digital revolution. There are so much different between nowadays and
previous era. In the 1950, the third of revolution brought mainframe
computing, semiconductors and also the internet. But nowadays these third
industrial revolution helped a lot to improve daily life and also grow the
industries.

b) There are two challenges faced by developing nation in the fourth industrial
revolutions. First there are social problems that may grow bigger due to the
these industrial revolution making the policy intervention crucial. Leaders of
political need to ensure that the technological progress will work for benefits
of the society. These basic policy should be follow in order to reduce risk.
Next is income inequality gap widening. Nowadays, global income inequality
is at very high levels. The income inequality rises globally in fast pace. The
rapid technological progress in combination with factors such as the
insufficiently regulated financial integration may grow this income inequality
gap.

a) Nowadays, people are using social media to get contact with each other. It
make thing easier because we still can contact the people whether their in the
countries or overseas. So they use the mobile messaging service WhatsApp.
This apps has more than 400m users around the world. WhatsApp is give the
unlimited free text messaging. Because of that, the owner of the Facebook
announced to purchase the WhatsApp.

b) There are three disadvantages of first mover. First, being a first mover you
need to incure a lot of cost to make sure that it will work out. For the example,
Mark Zuckerberg need buy the WhatsApp in such a big prize which is
$19billion. It does not sure that after he purchase the mobile messaging
service apps the user of the apps still using it. It is because they user of
WhatsApp may be change to another messaging service apps such as BiP and
other to keep their private in safe. Next is complacency. They need to know
how to make the user still use the apps. They need to upgrade or update it to
become so much better.

QUESTION 1
a) Mohammed is an innovator. Innovator is a person who brings new technology,
process or knowledge into life. He take the efforts to make new things that
may give a good advantages to the society. Mohammed started conducting
several brainstorming gathering with his teamwork in the same company. He
managed to come up with a new idea of developing special mobile application
that can helps four stars’ local restaurant owner in Malaysia to deal with their
loyal customer during Covid19 pandemic using online application through
internet without physical contact, even during food delivery. Mohammed’s
mobile application has unique features such as support Artificial Intelligent
(AI) delivering system connected with flying drone GPS system and linked to
user’s live address and so many other safety features.

b) The type of acquisition performed in the above mentioned scenario is external


acquisition. External acquisition is an enterprise can either develop ots
technological products, processes or services internally or acquire them
externally. Technological acquisition might range from buying skills and
know how to embedded technologies in components and products. The
external acquisition processes are goal setting, finding technology suppliers,
choosing acquisition method, contract preparation and negotiation,
technology transfer and managing long term collaboration.

c) Mohammed can protect his technology in Malaysia from being imitated by


other company with using his own patent. Patent is important because it can
help safeguard yor invention. It can protect the product, design or process
from being imitated by the other company. The second one is form a strategic
partnership. Two companies form a strategic partnership when each possesses
one or more business assets or have expertise that help the other

by enhancing their businesses.

Question 2.

a) There are six Technology Management Framework which are acquisition,


exploitation, identification, learning, protection and selection. Acquisition
have two type of technology sourcing approaches which is internal and
external acquisition. The advantages of acquisition are reduced entry barriers,
market power, new competencies and resources and fresh idea and
perspective. Exploitation is the utilization of new technology or scientific
developments to improve the performance of products, services or
manufacturing processes. Exploitation is more than just commercialization.
Exploitation activity includes three sets of sub-processes which are
commercialization/marketing, technology transfer and utilization.
