EDUCATION NEEDS IN YOUR COMMUNITY

Every community needs many educational materials. I will share my experiences for the
needs of formal education from primary to high school that attended in my community. These
are the list of educational needs for formal education in my community.

 The major needs is the teachers require both explicit and implicit knowledge. Because
some teachers are not expert their subject. Regarding about that we need qualified
teachers who are expert in their subject.

 We need the supply of well-trained, supported and qualified teachers because some
teachers do not understand which strategies or methods work best for the students.

 We need better education system not only traditional teachers instead of working in a
classroom and explaining procedures or skills through lectures but also teaching
should be learning-centered. I could find my community and others as well are still
applying traditional teaching like memorizing all the words, sentences and paragraph
that the students learnt by heart. So, this is the basic needs to change traditional
teaching to 21st century teaching and learning methods.

 More teachers and staffs because there is no balance between teachers and students,
and we need to study practically like science test room or laboratory and project
room.

 Also, my school should provide medical center and others educational materials such
as inadequate classrooms, and buildings because there are many students. We learnt
50 or 60 students in the small classroom. Furthermore, lack of toilets, projectors,
computers, library, and books.

The following are the needs of non-formal education in my community.

 We need knowledge and educate for sexual education and others educational
activities as well such as health education, life skills, and psychological activities.
  Lack of recognition or certification by comparing with formal education. As a result,
non-formal education is not fully recognized and also the opportunities to use it are
not fully realized. Then, it is difficult to apply the job.

 We need assessment as well as for non-formal education. Because, it cannot access

whether the learners achieve their goal or not.

I will share the needs and challenges of my practicum experience that I am teaching in YLP
(Young learners program). I think these learning and education needs might be similar or the
same that I plan to focus during my practicum experiences. The first point is that it is might
be difficult to find the students because some children could not affordable to access the
online class with their mobile data. It will cost a lot for them. The second point is that even I
could find the students, the internet connection is not stable and so that the students leave the
meeting many times and could not concentrate the lessons. For that I have to plan the plan B
like prepare my mobile data when the electricity cut of and Wi-Fi also cut off. Of course,
during this political and covid-19 situation I cannot teach face to face so I have to use through
online. The other point is that I need text book to use as a reference and also needs to access
more with techniques because sometimes I faced with error for the meeting link. So, these are
the needs for my planning practicum and I hope when the situation backs to the normal I
might not needs some difficulties.
