Assignment for Week 8-9

1. Give at least three technologies from our college that is being utilized or used to provide teaching in
nursing education. Which among them are the most convenient in your experience and why? In your
opinion, what technologies could be added to enhance or improve the delivery of nursing education in
our college?

• Patient Monitor Simulator (Apollo) – A patient simulator is a mannequin that can be used to
educate students and train healthcare professionals by simulating human anatomy or function
(physiology). Learners can practice skills and role-play without endangering a patient by
employing simulation technology, which reduces the stress associated with similar real-life
circumstances. This practice aids in the improvement of patient care and, as a result, aids in the
saving of lives. Apollo is beneficial, but it is also perplexing because there are some flaws with it,
such as the fact that we can't acquire our temperature or blood pressure most of the time, and
when we can, it is inaccurate. I believe there are a few flaws in the system or the monitor itself,
and it would be fantastic if the college could resolve this problem to improve nursing education
delivery to students.

• Projector and laptop – Our college used a projector and laptop during face-to-face classes to
provide visual aids and video presentations on how to properly complete our return
demonstration technique. Personally, this is extremely useful and convenient because it reduces
the need for printed papers for module reasons. It is also cost-effective because the college,
professors, and students will no longer have to pay for paper, ink, printers, or photocopies by
using these devices.

• Google Classroom, Google Meet, and Zoom are examples of academic applications or websites.
We began using these tools during lectures as soon as the pandemic began. It was tough to use
at first, but with practice, we learned how to use these apps/websites correctly and effectively.
These apps made online classes more manageable and enjoyable for students since they are well-
organized, detailed, and hassle-free, which is important because online classes may be taxing and
sad for some students.

2. In your experience as a student, what are the top 5 gadgets or modern electronic devices that are the
most essential in nursing education? Why?

1. Vital Signs Monitoring Equipment (Thermometers · Blood Pressure Monitors · Pulse Oximeters)
2. Smartphone
3. Laptop
4. Desktop
5. Flash drive
This gadgets/modern electronic equipment are the most important in nursing education because
they all serve the same objective of providing high-quality instruction to nursing students. Nursing
students will benefit from vital sign monitoring equipment since it will help them learn the purpose and
proper use of each piece of equipment. Vital signs are a crucial part of keeping track of a patient's
development while they're in the hospital since they allow for early diagnosis of delays in recovery or bad
outcomes. Basic indicators of a patient's health are obtained by measuring vital signs. Smartphones play
a significant part in students' educational activities. Students, for example, use cell phones to register for
classes, check lecture schedules and test schedules, check grades, have group discussions, read notices,
and pay school fees, among other things. Reminders and alarm clocks on smartphones help nursing
students manage their time. Smartphones enable students to learn in a style that is familiar to them and
to find information quickly. The audio and visual quality is also excellent, particularly when an online class
is being held and RD is being performed. Computers and laptops are extremely important in nursing
education because they can store and retrieve data rapidly. It aids in the audio-visual depiction of
knowledge given, making learning more engaging and participatory. Students who use laptops, however,
benefit from more efficient and detailed notetaking, speedier writing and editing, and easier group work
and study. Nursing students, regardless of their age, can benefit from these benefits. Laptops are very
convenient to transport. Even though both desktops and laptops serve the same purpose as personal
computers, most nursing students will choose a laptop for its portability. A flash drive is the final item on
the list; it can be used to save assignments, presentations, research papers, essays, and other documents.
You can also utilize USB sticks to distribute homework assignments, course materials, or notes. It is
advantageous not only to nursing students but also to other college students; their portability is another
significant benefit.

3. Look for at least 5 nursing research studies/titles about the IMPACT of nursing informatics in nursing
education. Provide the 5 author’s name and their title. Make a summary about the impact of NI to NE
based on their research results.

Nursing informatics (NI) is a specialization that merges nursing science with different information
and analytical sciences, according to these study papers. Nurses, customers, patients, the
interprofessional healthcare team, and other stakeholders all benefit from NI's decision-making
assistance. This assistance is provided using information structures, processes, and technology.
Technology and online learning can be advantageous. It is beneficially used in nursing education.
To practice evidence-based nursing, nurses must have the cognitive ability to notice difficulties, research
them, and treat them using fresh information. The basic technology, such as e-mail, database, and
spreadsheet tools, should be included in nursing education to professionally train nurses and foster
evidence-based nursing, communication, and cooperation. By employing technology to teach and educate
students about technology and informatics, nursing students can develop psychomotor skills related to
the usage of hardware and software that will be useful in a health care setting. Students can interact with,
collaborate with, and learn from a wide range of teachers and peers through online educational
environments. Students can interact with, collaborate with, and learn from a wide range of teachers and
peers through online educational environments. While there are many benefits to using technology in
nursing education, some research shows that student nurses face IT issues. To guarantee that IT is
accepted, implemented, and used successfully and efficiently in nursing education, the holes that have
been identified must be filled. The following suggestions are offered. Policies governing the use of
technology in educational and clinical settings should be developed. To establish competency, nursing
curriculums must contain a particular IT module with rigorous examinations. With new gadgets and
technology, including quick, dependable connectivity, refresher courses and ongoing IT assistance must
be easily available. To increase exposure to and experience with IT, IT-related activities must be
incorporated into lesson planning. Regular meetings with student nurses and healthcare practitioners
should be organized to address IT concerns and aid in overcoming obstacles. While some may focus on
the potential drawbacks of big data, their voices will be drowned out by the swarms of nurse leaders who
are being trained in informatics skills and deploying them to improve care outcomes. Nurse leaders with
informatics skills can make a significant contribution to the body of evidence-based practice and
drastically improve care delivery.
