classroom knowledge. It helps in understanding the topics more precisely.

Sukraft Recycling uses the functional organizational structure for its organizational chart.
The structure of its operations is divided based on the various departments in the organization. A
manager heads each department, and he/she has a dual responsibility to be accountable to the top
management and direct the respective department to achieve successful performance.

ADVANTAGES OF STRUCTURE:

 Functional organizational structure allows employees to focus on their role in an

organization.
 It makes the employees feel responsible.
 Monitoring of work and policy implementation from each level is easy.
 Creates cooperation among the grass-root level teams and helps in increasing efficiency.

DISADVANTAGES OF STRUCTURE:

 Huge age gap in the workforce

 It hinders interdepartmental communication

CHAPTER 3

FUNCTIONAL DEPARTMENTS

21 | P a g e
DEPARTMENTS AND THEIR FUNCTIONS:

Sukraft Recycling Pvt Ltd. has different functions. Each function will have a HEAD, to whom all
the managers have to report. All the departments and their functions are explained below.

RAW MATERIALS DEPARTMENT:

Gathering recyclable papers is a crucial step in the SUKRAFT RECYCLING PLANT.

It requires collecting paper garbage from many locations, including your house, workplace, and
neighborhood. Paper garbage is collected by recyclers and paper merchants from locations such
as trash cans, paper shops, paper scrap yards, and business establishments that produce paper
waste. This department ensures to collect the raw materials required in the process.

PAPER SORTING DEPARTMENT:

The papers are further sorted at the recycling facility depending on quantity and paper
value by evaluating the components used to manufacture the paper once they have been accepted.
Most of the time, the surface treatment and structure of the papers determine their classification.

SHREDDING AND PULPING DEPARTMENT:

As soon as sorting is complete, shredding and pulping come next. The purpose of
shredding is to reduce paper items to tiny fragments. The material is broken down into tiny pieces
after being finely shredded, then it is combined with chemicals and water. Pulping is the process
that transforms paper ingredients into a slurry substance. It goes through a heating procedure at this
point, which transforms it into pulp. Recycling businesses typically pulp waste using machinery
known as pullers. And to accomplish this, water and chemicals like caustic soda and hydrogen
peroxide are added.

SCREENING DEPARTMENT:

You now sort through the pulpy mess. The pulp is forced into screens that have gaps
and holes of various sizes and shapes. You must clean the pulp of pollution at the conclusion of this
procedure. You eliminate undesirable objects as well.

22 | P a g e
DE- INKING DEPARTMENT:

SUKRAFT RECYCLING PLANT has a de-inking department which is to de-ink bigger

pollutants. After the pulp is created, bigger pollutants like inks, staples, plastic film, and glue are
removed by passing it through a succession of screens. The pulp material is then combined with
fresh pulp to aid in the slurry's solidification and the creation of a firmer final product. The freshly
cleaned paper pulp is then put into the centrifugal cleaning device, which spins more dirt from the
paper pulp.

BLEACHING:

This stage is important if you intend to write a white paper. At this point, you use
hydrogen peroxide to increase the brightness, purity, and whiteness. You can also use oxygen or
chlorine dioxide as an alternative. However, if you are recycling into cardboard, you do not need to
bleach the pulp.

ROLLING MILL:

However, you should proceed with extreme caution here. This is due to the fact that the
paper pulp will need to be mixed with chemicals and hot water. However, the amount of hot water
you add must be far greater than the amount of pulp and chemical substances. This mixture is then
gradually fed into a machine equipped with press rollers. This ensures that all moisture from the
pulp is removed. The pulp sheet is then completely dried using a heated metal roller

HUMAN RESOURCE FUNCTION:
