I am sure that this has happened 2most of U – 1of thos d..wks,yrs filled w prob and diff
Recently helping R and K prepare house for sale: bathroom… kitchen…
What helped me was a good nights sleep and a fresh start in the AM
Today a section of Lam 3 that talks about hope comes new every morning
Last Week Overview of Lamentations
5 lamentations or crys or dirges to the Lord over the destruction of Jerusalem and Judah
4 are acrostic in structure
The Lord brought the difficulties on them for their sin
Jeremiah is the traditional author tho the text does not say
Th authr clearly flt th pain of th message he laments, it is nt theoretical, objective but real
We should look on the lost world and feel for them, The Lord was moved to weep, we2
Lamentations 3
1-18 The Lord has … v1 is the cntrl vs of bk: I am th man who has…by rod of His wrath
19-30 in the middle of the book and chapter there is hope [ note 4 times, 21,24,26, 29]
Focus on this in just a moment, before and after is misery of suffering
31-39 The Lord does not, note ‘not’
40-42 let us … what we need to do
43-45 You [Lord] have ….
46-57 Our enemies 46…
58-66 payback 64-66
New Every Morning Is Hope …
Hope – Some of U remember Christeen Delph, dear lady went home to be w Lord~20yrs
She said 2me hope is wishful thinking, some blvrs think hope not real but fantasy
Warren Wiersbe notes Newspaper editor Mencken described hope as:
a pathological belief in the occurrence of the impossible
Tozer sd hope: th divine alchemy tht transmutes th base metal of adversity in2 Au
1Pt1:6-8
19-21 … that begins when you stop remember the past and start remembering Lord
Begins by remembering yesterdays problems, but note abrupt change in v21
Turns to hope of a better day ahead, cal to mind is probably looking forward to
v22 the Lord’s mercies Ph3:13-14
22-24 … in the mercy and lovingkindness of the Lord
This is th gem of the entir book, the best known passage in the book, sweet 2many
Note the following:
The Lord’s mercies are not consumed or cease, they endure
Mercies = loyalty or devotion, here they are limitless
The Lord’s compassion does not stop or fail or end i.e. it continues Hb13 5
The mercies and compassion of the Lord are new every morning
New – never used, Every – each and every, all
Morning – when they ar new, when we find thm new, the morning
Great is the Lord’s faithfulness – reliability, dependability,
My soul says: Th Lord is my portion – whn U have the Lord U have enuf
Never be used up, always sufficient, eternal Ps73:26, Ps46:1
The conclusion is that my hope is in the Lord,
the attrib of th Lord gv hope, livng hope bcs trst livng God 2Co120
 The best comparison I can think of is Job, Job 13:15, trust in the Lord tho die
25-27 … that good comes to those who wait on the Lord
First word in each verse begins w same word tov = good
Lord is good… good to wait on the Lord… good to learn when U are young
28-30 … the hope that comes to those who are willing to submit to the Lord
Note ‘let him’ , Hebrew imperfect, incomplete action
What actions lead to hope? Sit alone and be silent…put mouth to dust
[submit]…turn the other cheek to enemy
Need hope – turn to the Lord, new every morning
Look at yourself and you’ll be depressed, look at circumstances and you’ll be distressed
Look at the Lord and you’ll be blessed. Warren Wiersbe radio listener
