Dear Marius

PATHCARE PROJECT: AGREEMENT OF UNDERSTANDING WITH

PARTICIPATING FRANCHISE CENTRES

We have been involved in a project with PathCare since 2020 and was again asked for assistance this
year.

Below more info on the Project and what your role will be as participating franchise centre.

1. PREAMBLE
PathCare offers a Medical Technician programme through their Academy. The PathCare pre-
requisite for applicants interested in completing this course is mathematics passed on Grade 12
(matric) level. Path Care has employees that are interested in this Medical Technician
programme, without mathematics passed on Grade 12 (matric) level.

PathCare contracted Master Maths to assess employees who are interested in applying for the
Medical Technician programme, but who do not meet the mathematics criteria. We agreed to a
Pilot Project in 2020 and based on the outcomes PathCare indicated that they wish to proceed
with this project as part of their outreach and development of employee policy.

Master Maths (PTY) Ltd entered into an agreement with PathCare, whereby we undertook:
1.1. To set up a Skills Assessment test to determine whether a PathCare employee/candidate, that
does not have the minimum requirements to qualify for the Medical Technician programme,
has the necessary basic school Maths and Chemistry skills, to apply for their Medical
Technician programme.

1.2. This Skills Assessment test will be written at participating franchise centres or the
PathCare Training centre. The Skills Assessment test will be marked by Master Maths
(Head Office) and results and full report with recommendations will be given to PathCare
management.

1.3. PathCare management will, based on the results of the Skills Assessment and
recommendations, nominate employees for our specially developed Maths and/or
Chemistry Bridging course/s.

1.4. The purpose of the Maths and/or Chemistry Bridging course is to prepare candidates that
have the potential, but not the necessary minimum requirements as set out above, to apply

for the Medical Technician programme. This is an opportunity for these candidates to advance
in their careers at Path Care.

1.5. As these Maths and Chemistry Bridging courses are offered as distance learning, self-
paced/self-study courses, PathCare will ensure that candidates have access to a suitable
computer and internet data for the duration of the course/s.

1.6. The candidates that qualify to register for the Maths and Chemistry Bridging course/s, will be
registered, through participating franchise centres.

1.7. It will be required of the participating franchise centre to monitor the candidate’s progress and
assist the candidate as and when required, for the duration of the course. The agreement with
PathCare is that the online Bridging courses are self-paced/self-study courses offered on the
Master Maths online platform, and that it remains the responsibility of the candidate to follow
the instructions given by Master Maths on how to deal with the course content. The
participating franchise centre are therefore not required to offer contact sessions to the
candidates.

1.8. A Final Assessment Test after completion of the Bridging Courses will be written in the
participating centre. The final assessment will be marked by Master Maths (Head Office) and
results and full report with recommendations will be given to PathCare management.

1.9. The Project co-ordinator will be Pieter Henning and all correspondence regarding this project
must be addressed to him at pieterh@mastermaths.co.za, with copied in
adrie@mastermaths.co.za.

We received a candidates list from PathCare and based on where the applicants live, we identified
your centre as a centre that could be a participating centre, if you would be willing to assist these
candidates.

2. DURATION OF THE PROJECT:

The proposed project Time Frame is as per Annexure A, which is included in this agreement.
These dates may be adjusted slightly but participating centres will be kept updated.

3. FEES AND PAYMENT

Master Maths and PathCare agreed to the following fees payable:

3.1 Master Maths developed a set of Skills Assessment Test (8 April @ 10:00). The integrity of
these tests is vital for us, so that we can re-use them in following years to come. We therefore
rely on participating centres to regard this Skills Assessment test as a formal examination and
deal with it in that way.

3.2 Marking of Skills Assessment Test and feedback report will be done by Master Maths Head
Office. Your role in this part of the project is to manage the test process on the day of the test,
by accommodating the candidate in your centre to sit the test.

3.3 After completion of the test PathCare will identify candidates that will complete the bridging
course/s, and this is where your role comes in as a participating centre and where you will get
the benefit of the fees payable by PathCare. All the candidates that sat the 2021 Skills

2
Assessment enrolled for one or both bridging courses. We cannot guarantee that this will be
the case in 2022 though.

3.4 The cost agreed to between Master Maths and Pathcare for the Physical Science Bridging
Course, is R3 234,00 (Three Thousand Two Hundred and Thirty-Four Rand) plus
VAT, per candidate.

3.5 Master Maths (Head Office) will, upon presentation of a valid tax invoice, credit the
participating centre’s MSF account with an amount equal to 80% of the fee as indicated in 3.4
above (plus VAT if applicable), per candidate, and pay out any remaining credit to the
franchise centre after the next MSF invoice is passed.

3.6 A Final Assessment Test will be written after completion of the Bridging Course(s), at a
specified date, in the participating centre and in terms of the agreement with PathCare,
accommodation for and moderation of this test is included in the Bridging Course fee.

3.7 As with the Skills Assessment test, Master Maths developed this Final Assessment Test (14
October @10:00). The integrity of these tests is vital for us, so that we can re-use them in
following years to come. We therefore rely on participating centres to regard this Skills
Assessment test as a formal examination and deal with it in that way.

Please complete and sign this Memorandum of understanding if you are prepared to act as a
participating centre and return to me, adrie@mastermatsh.co.za & Cc: pieterh@mastermaths.co.za ,
by no later than Thursday, 31 March 2022.

Master Maths/Scienc Worcester, hereby declare that we understand the terms and conditions of this
PathCare project and are willing to act as a participating franchise centre in this project.
