SCHOOL: PAYAPAG NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
MODULE 1: COURSE ORIENTATION
LESSON 1: COURSE OVERVIEW

MY ANSWER:
1. The main delivery of this course is about the different LDMs, it helps us teachers to know
the different LDMs because it is useful in planning and implementing of the school-adopted
LDM. In our school we prefer to use the Modular Distance Learning Printed since internet
connection is not available in our school. This course also allows us to prepare the learning
materials and resources needed and to be confident in executing lessons in this new LDM.
2. This course help me ensure that I will be able to deliver quality instruction in this “new
normal “through the information given in this topic that will contributes me to understand
further the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan (LCP) in which LCP capacity building has
two modes, namely: LDM1 for the implementation and management of the alternative
learning delivery system at all levels of the education system, and intended for school and
division leaders, LDM2 which is intended for teachers and is focused on the instructional
implications of using these alternative LDMs.
3. The two support mechanisms that will help me with my learning in this course are: (1) the
design and implementation principles and guidelines from LCP Courses/programs and (2)
Attending LAC sessions, in which collaboration with my co teachers is present that will help
me to expand my knowledge about LCP Courses and Programs.

MY ANSWER:
When Covid-19 pandemic was came in our place our country face the State of
National Emergency where all gatherings is forbidden. This is one of the big challenges that
the Department of Education encountered due of face to face teaching is not permitted in
which this is the traditional mode of teaching and the most effective way that a learner
gained a long lasting learning. This topic help us understand the different LDMs also allows
us to have more ideas on how to administer the different methods since opening of classes
is approaching. Nobody’s perfect, as a teacher I have weakness or negative characteristics in
doing a task like this thus I will motivate myself , manage my time and focus on the task
given so that I will finished the course with a full wisdom.

Poor internet connection Our place has a poor internet connection it’s hard for us to
research and downloads relative information’s that are helpful in understanding the topic
and answering the activities. Communicating my fellow teachers online is not easy as well.
Difficulty in managing time and task Aside from LDM2 there are other tasks that a teacher
must do like module making, printing of modules and attending webinars.
Lack of knowledge in using other technologies and online platforms Yes we are now in
modern technology but reality tells that there are teachers who are left behind when it
comes in using the different technologies and did not know how to apply the different
platforms online .

MODULE 2: MOST ESSENTIAL LEARNING COMPETENCIES (MELCs)

LESSON 1: BACKGROUND, RATIONALE, AND DEVELOPMENT OF MELCS

My Answer
1. As a TLE teacher for me the fundamental concerns that need to be addressed in
order to ensure learning continuity is the hands -on activities of the students due of
this subject must focus on the skills of the students there is a huge difference if
they’re going to write only there outputs, like for example in cookery if there is a
cooking performance, in their respective home the students will imagine only the
process or steps unlike if they will do it authentically. Although students can do it

through a video then send it to their teacher via messenger or email but the problem
is the internet connection is not available where our students reside. Teachers
cannot solve this problem alone it needs the support of the parents and the
cooperation of the LGUs and other organization to solve this problem for the
learners to continue learning.

2. Yes I agree with this observation because there are lot of learning competency but
time allotment is too short to raise mastery of learning competencies.

My Answer
1. The following are the general and specific purposes of the development of MELCs

* The department of education’s Bureau of Curriculum Development developed

MELCs to cope with the drastic change in the educational atmosphere due to Covid
19 pandemic. The focus of instruction were streamlined to the most essential or the
most indispensable learning competencies.
*The MELCs can be used under similar circumstances as a mechanism to ensure
education continuity
* The MELCs intend to assist schools in navigating the limited number of school days
as they employ multiple delivery schemes by providing them ample instructional
space
* MELCs is also developed in response to UNESCO’s fourth sustainable development
goal and that is to develop resilient education system, most especially during
emergencies.
2. Curriculum review aid in the identification of essential learning competencies through
identification of gaps, issues, and concerns. Moreover, areas for improvement that would
MY STUDY NOTEBOOK

LDM2: LEARNING DELIVERY MODALITIES COURSE 2 FOR

TEACHERS

NAME: ROVIL-ANN O. MACULA

SCHOOL: PAYAPAG NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
enhance the learning engagement, experience, and outcomes were identified and
consequent solutions were recommended.
3. The difference between essential learning competencies and desirable learning
competencies is essential learning competencies were defined as what the students need,
considered indispensable, in the teaching-learning process to build skills to equip learners
for subsequent grade levels and consequently, for lifelong learning. On the other hand,

desirable learning competencies were defined as what may enhance education but may not
be necessary in building foundational skills.
4.In determining the essential competencies the Department, through the Bureau of
Curriculum Development–Curriculum Standards Development Division, in collaboration with
the Assessment Curriculum and Technology Research Centre (ACTRC), started working on
the identification of essential learning. A list of the characteristics of essential learning
competencies was provided to help participants decide which among the learning
competencies are deemed most important. The Department then identified the MELCs
across all learning areas through the application of these understandings. Necessary in this
process is the decision whether a learning competency is to be retained, merged, dropped,
or rephrased. As a general rule, a learning competency is retained if it satisfies the
endurance criterion which greatly contributes to life-long learning and is a prerequisite skill
to the next grade level. Two or more learning competencies are merged or clustered if they
have the same objective or learning intention and can therefore be combined into one
comprehensive learning competency. However, learning competencies are
removed/dropped due to the following reasons:
● They are too specific (and the articulation is similar to that of a learning objective).
● They are deemed appropriate to be introduced in an earlier quarter or grade level or
moved to a later quarter or grade level.
● They are recurring
● They are subsumed in another learning competency.
Finally, a learning competency is rephrased to be more concise.

5. MELCs is highly necessary in ensuring the delivery of quality instruction for it is the
fundamental guide in identifying and implementing learning delivery approaches that are
appropriate to the local context and variety of learners as challenges created by Covid -19
pandemic.

MODULE 2: MOST ESSENTIAL LEARNING COMPETENCIES (MELCs)

LESSON 2: UNPACKING AND COMBINING MELCS INTO LEARNING OBJECTIVES

MY ANSWER:
1.

My Answer
1. The importance of unpacking and combining the MELCs is to provide quality
instruction even in a short time for this school year and to systematize learning
activities and effectively address the varying needs of learners and the challenges of
instructional deliveries.

2. The following are the consideration in unpacking and combining MELCs.

*Alignment on the Content and Performance Standards - The MELCs are not a
departure from the standards-based design, which is one of the main features of the
K to 12 Curriculum. In fact, there are no MELCs without the content and
performance standards

* Prerequisite knowledge and skills - It is worth noting that the identified MELCs
cater to higher order cognitive demands. As such, lower cognitive demand may be
considered first in creating learning objectives. This ensures that prerequisite

LDM2: LEARNING DELIVERY MODALITIES COURSE 2 FOR

TEACHERS

SCHOOL: PAYAPAG NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
knowledge and skills that would enable the achievement of MELCs, and eventually
the content and performance standards, are addressed.

* Logical sequence of learning objectives - Since the intention of unpacking the

MELCs is to provide systematic learning experiences for learners, it is incumbent that
the unpacked learning objectives follow a logical sequence.
3. In unpacking and combining the MELCs there are considerations and criteria to be
followed. A teacher may unpack or combine depending on the sequence of the lesson and
needs of the learners. Also if there’s an attainment of both the content and performance
standards.

LESSON 1: UNDERSTANDING THE DIFFERENT LDMs
MY STUDY NOTEBOOK

LDM2: LEARNING DELIVERY MODALITIES COURSE 2 FOR

My Answer
Face-to-face (F2F) – It is a learning delivery modality where the teacher and learner/s are
physically in one venue. There are opportunities for active engagement, immediate
feedback and socioemotional development of learners. It may be conducted in any available
physical learning space.
Distance learning- It is a learning delivery modality where a learner is given materials or
access to resources and he/she undertakes self-directed study at home or in another venue.
Learners engage in independent learning at home or in any physical learning space
applicable, by using learning materials that are accessible either online, stored on
CD/DVD/USB Flash drive, or in printed form, or by viewing TV lessons or listening to radio-
based instruction while being geographically distant from the teacher. The teacher
supervises and monitors the learner’s progress and provides remediation and enhancement
when needed and possible. Assistance may be provided by a learning facilitator who may be
a parent or any member of the family, or a community stakeholder.
Blended learning – It is a learning delivery modality using a combination of the features of
F2F learning and distance learning. It can be (1) F2F and modular distance learning; (2) F2F
and online distance learning; (3) F2F and TV-based instruction/Radio-based instruction; or
(4) F2F and any combination of the other types of distance learning.
Home schooling – It is an alternative learning delivery mode (ADM) that provides learners
with access to formal education while staying in an out-of-school environment, with
parents, guardians, or tutors as authorized facilitators instead of classroom teachers. This
does not preclude going to a school on specific periods to develop learning competencies
that require the use of laboratory, equipment, and others. It uses any or a combination of
the various learning delivery modalities.
The LDMs which do not have a component of F2F learning are the distance learning and
home schooling.

MY ANSWER:

1. It is the process of determining what learning opportunities students in the school, it

is done by planning the content of instructions, selecting teaching materials,
designing the learning activities and grouping methods.
2. It is important because it serves as a guiding star in daily lesson and daily activity in

According to DepEd Order No. 42, s. 2016: The reflection part of the DLL and DLP should be
filled up after the lesson is delivered. Teachers are encouraged to think about their lessons,
particularly the parts that went well and the parts that were weak and write about those
briefly. In the reflection, teachers can share their thoughts and feelings about their lessons
including things about the lesson that were successfully implemented and which ones need
improvement or could be adjusted in the future. Teachers can also take note of the number
of learners who earned 80% in the evaluation, the number of learners who require
additional activities for remediation, and the difficulties teachers encountered that their
principal or supervisor can help solve.

MODULE 3B: LEARNING RESOURCES

LESSON 1: LEARNING RESOURCE MAPS FOR DISTANCE LEARNING

My Answer
1. Our school implement Modular Distance Learning, we need to have the printed Self
Learning Modules (SLM) in order to achieve this LDM and the SLM will be distributed
to the learners.
2. Aside from the modules coming from the central and our division office, our
schools do not have yet a complete resource for the distance learning delivery
modalities.
In order to fill-up the missing learning resources, we can use the two DepEd
portals: the LRMDS and Commons to search for the following LR and also, to

TEACHERS

SCHOOL: PAYAPAG NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
substitute the missing LR by collaborating to the teachers we will make/write a
module/worksheet by following the format given by our division.
3. It is important to orient first the teachers on how to register on the portal so
that it is easy for us to access. Permission of the administrator is important as
well as the guidance and help of the ICT coordinator because there are
teachers who are not expert in ICT.
4. Through the evaluation of the materials that was distributed by DepEd, we
found out that the level of difficulties of the materials were appropriate to the
student’s level of thinking.
When it comes to learners reading ability and learners comprehension, it
would be a disadvantage for the learners because the LR from national has a
lots of reading to do.
In order to reach the reading level of the pupils, we need to low down the
difficulties of the LR by giving easier and more examples of activities.

My Answer

In our LAC session we share and discus about LRs on how to register to the
two DepED Portals and agreed to have a division of work in making/writing
modules/worksheets.

My Answer

1. In our school we adapted a Modular Distance Learning, by the help of two

DepEd portals we can easily access of Learning Resources and SLM. We
can obtain our learning module from our principal via soft copy or online so
it eases the burden for us teachers. Paperless LR fast and well-ordered
process in giving LRs.
2. lack of gadgets , unstable internet, financial burden to parents in paying
data load for internet connection and learners’/parents’ limited technical
knowledge in operating the portals(DepEd Common).
3. Internet connection is one of the biggest problem in our place. It’s not easy
for us to access the Deped Portal. We can get this support if the LGU and
the other organizations will help us to address the problem.

My Answer
 During our LAC session we share and discus about the LR portals, Our ICT
coordinator help us on how to register in the Two DepEd Portals and provides
Technical assistance in operating gadgets in and downloading LR’s from the
portals.

Answer: Teachers must be aware of using legitimate learning materials from any
learning resources.

My Answer

1. DepEd prescribe LR’s are reliable and aligned in the basic requirement needed for
choosing LR’s on the other hand non DepEd portal LR’s sometimes doesn’t comply
to the standard requirements of LR’s.
2.DepED materials before posting to the deped portal were being examined by the
deped personnel so I think there’s no revision for that but non deped materials of

course need to be examined first and must be aligned to the assessment tool given
by deped..
3. I can now pick better Learning Resources for my subject matter because of this
exercise.

My Answer

1. I had made a Self-Learning Module in TLE 7 Front office services. Truly it is not
my major and we did not offer this subject in our school so I felt so much difficulty in
creating a module in this subject. I know that I didn’t meet the requirement prescribe
by deped most especially when I saw the assessment tool.

2. The sources of the module needs to improve and must consider the culture and
gender fair next time.

My Answer
After the LAC session we come up with a clearer view in making our own LRs and in
downloading and choosing LRs in deped portal. We agreed also that we should download
LR’s only on reliable sources like the DepEd Portal and other online portals that are
creadible.
