qualities should you have that
you would be a teacher in the
future?
Teachers are molded by the nature and
nurture. Nature means your inborn qualities,
your natural tendencies. Nurture means how
you are trained or taught to become a teacher.
You are born with the attributes and
qualities desired to become a teacher.
The Qualities of a Teacher
There are two distinct characteristics of an
effective and efficient teacher:

1. Personal qualities – refer to the qualities that


stem from the teacher’s personality, interests,
attitudes, and beliefs; and his/her behavior and
working relationships with his/her students and
peers.
2. Professional qualities – refer to the teacher’s
knowledge of the subject matter, his/her
understanding of the psychological and
educational principles and his/her understanding
of the teaching profession.
As a Person

1.Innate Qualities
a. Aptitude
A saying goes “Teachers are born”. This
refers to the inborn characteristics of individuals
such as aptitude, often defined as a strong
inclination for some tasks together with
corresponding skills.
2. Mental ability
A mental ability that is above average and
higher equips a teacher to carry on her multiple
tasks. After hurdling a 4 year bachelor’s degree,
she can easily continue to a masteral degree.
Mentally gifted and bright teachers are capable
of demonstrating higher order thinking skills.
What are some personal
qualities of a GOOD
TEACHERS?
• COMPASSION – natural quality to emphasize, to
feel what others feel, to be tolerant of others.
• SELF – CONFIDENCE – natural tendency to feel “I
can do it” works alone, determined to success.
• EMOTIONAL STABILITY – ability to be calm
under pressure, cheerful and optimistic, level
headed.
 INTELLIGENCE – ability to make sound decision,
analyze, make judgment, make solutions,
possess higher order thinking skill and types of
intelligence.
 FAIRNESS – natural attribute to look at both
sides of the issue before making judgment, gives
equal chances for both sides to be heard
removes personal biases.
 INNOVATIVENESS – natural tendency to create
new things, modify existing ones, imaginative,
find solutions to problem quickly and makes use
of available materials or resources.
 RELIABILITY – attribute demonstrated by
dependability, sincerity and honesty.
 COOPERATIVENESS – natural action to work
together with others and willing to share.
 BOUYANCY – ability to survive in difficult
situation, balances life, optimistic and cheerful.
