SCAN NEXT DET

X DETS +XXX

The Scanner automatically switches off, if the operating keys are not used within the
defined Scanner`s stand by time. There is no way to switch off the Scanner manually.

3.5. Charging
The Battery status of the scanner is always displayed in the upper line, as soon as
the scanner is switched on. A small battery symbol is used as in indicator for the
battery level. If the battery symbol shows three bars, the battery is fully charged.
Recharge the battery when the indicator shows only one bar.

Battery full Low Battery

The batteries are recharged either via an external scanner cradle or the Blast Box.
The main method for charging the Scanner is using the Scanner cradle. The Scanner
cradle is an external charging device which is connected to the mains power for
charging. Docking the scanner to the charging port enables the contact to the
scanners charging ports.

Using the scanner docking station of the Blast Box Series 300 for charging, the Blast
Box Series 300 must be switched on for charging process. During charging the
Scanner it is not possible to charge the Blast Box Series 300 as well, as the Blast
Box Series 300 must always be turned off for charging.

Note: The Scanner must always be recharged before use.

4. Scanning of detonators
Each detonator has an unique identification number (ID), mechanically written to the
chip in the factory once it has successfully completed all its safety and functioning
tests. The ID-number is printed on a tag secured to the lead wires near the
connector. The tag shows the detonators ID number in form of a bar code and as
digits as well as the lead wire length and a date code.

For scanning and assigning the delay time to the detonator, the detonators don`t
need to be connected to the harness wire. All information requested by the scanner
are implemented in the bar code on the tag and can be scanned via the laser
scanner.

To scan the bar code the operator must set up the Scanner to the correct settings,
enter the SCAN NEXT DET mode and scan the bar code on the tag by pressing the
scan button on the key board. It makes no difference whether the bar code is
scanned in normal position as shown above, or up side down.

without saving, the Scanner reverts to SCAN NEXT DET menu.

The new intershot delay is displayed in the lower right corner of the display.

The intershot delay time can be changed at any time without losing any saved data.

Global Delay
The GLOBAL DELAY option is used to design a delay time for detonators that have
not been scanned and therefore do not have a specific delay time. During
programming of the detonators by the Blast Box, each detonator receives the specific
delay time assigned to it during the scanning process, as per the detonator list
transferred from the Scanner to the Blast Box. However, at the end of the
programming cycle, the Blast Box sends out a global delay time to all detonators that
have not received a specific delay time. The global delay time is set up in the
Scanner and can either be set up manually or calculated automatically.

After choosing the GLOBAL DELAY option with the help of the or buttons one
of the following screens appear, depending on the current global delay setting:

The first screen indicates a manual delay setting and the second screen indicates an
automatic delay time calculation for noticed globals. The user can change between
these two options simply by using the or buttons.

Manual SET
If the Scanner is set up to MANUAL SET global delay timing, all noticed globals are
programmed to the manually designed global delay time. This is independent of any
other delay time setting of the blast.

noticed globals. Any delay time from 0 to 10 000 ms is possible. Next, after
confirming the correct settings, the Scanner will revert to the SCAN NEXT DET
modus.

Auto calculation
The auto calculation mode will automatically calculate the global delay setting for all
noticed global detonators dependent on the maximum designed specific delay time
used. The final calculated global delay time consists of the maximum designed
specific delay time plus 10 ms.

next detonator in line. Pressing the key once more after reaching the last scanned
detonator, the Scanner will display the first scanned detonator again. Pressing the
key will display the previous scanned detonator.

Line 2 displays the position in line of the current shown detonator as well as the total
amount of detonators scanned.

The detonator ID of the current detonator is shown in line 3. And the delay time the
detonator has been adjusted to is displayed in the bottom line.

To exit the view detonator option the ESC

key must be pressed.

5.1.5. Intershot assignment

To assign a positive or a negative increment step the intershot assignment menu
must be used. To enter the menu the user must press the key while on the SCAN
NEXT DET screen. Next the following window will appear on the screen:

A negative intershot increment means, the increment will be subtracted from the
delay time of the previous scanned detonator. A positive increment sign will result in
an added increment to the previous scanned detonator delay time.

Confirming the chosen option by pressing the Enter key will save the settings and the
Scanner reverts to the SCAN NEXT DET menu.

5.1.6. Replace detonator menu

Sometimes it is necessary to replace a damaged or faulty detonator that already has
been scanned and exists in the Scanners detonator list, without affecting the delay
time assigned to the original unit in the list. To replace a detonator, the REPLACE
DETONATOR function can be used. To enter the Replace detonator option the user
must press the key while on the SCAN NEXT DET screen. The following screen
will be displayed:

Next the user needs to scan the new detonator. The new entry will substitute the
previous entry in the detonator list. The new scanned detonator will be assigned to
the same delay time as the replaced detonator had.

After scanning the new detonator the Scanner reverts to the SCAN NEXT DET menu.

The REPLACE DETONATOR option is only available if detonators have been

scanned before. Otherwise an error message will appear in the screen.
