FROM NBCNEWS, JULY 2020 Multiple people contracted COVID-19 in the United States but despite of it, Americans rallies& protest against wearing of mask. THEORY: THE HEALTH BELIEF MODEL • ANALYSIS: I believe that the theory that governs the people of the United States is the Health Belief Model. In this theory, it can be seen by the images along with the headlines that the people believe that none of the health protocols can make them comply with the use of masks as protection against COVID-19 since they believe that it violates their freedom over their own body. This belief influences their health-related actions or behaviors resulting in them not complying with the health care protocols and not using masks as protection. It will be based on how they see the disease as a threat to their health. HEADLINE No 2 FROM WWW.AFRO.WHO May 14, 2020 - In Africa, hunger & malnutrition heighten vulnerability to diseases, the consequences of which could be far reaching if not properly addressed in this time of pandemic. THEORY: FRAMEWORK FOR PREVENTION • ANALYSIS: Based on my analysis, I consider this situation ruled by the theory of Milio’s Framework for prevention. Since in this theory, it is usually associated with economic, political and environmental health determinants which in this case, the economical status in Africa. With cases of hunger and malnutrition, there will be effects in the overall health status of the community which may result to more diseases. Which is why in this theory it is suggested that there should be balance between a population’s health needs and its health-sustaining resources for the citizens and is less costly. HEADLINE No 3. (CNBC, JULY 2020) Vietnam took drastic early action to fight the coronavirus — and has reported zero deaths. Vietnam has reported zero deaths from Covid-19. It has just 412 cases, despite having a population of more than 95 million people THEORY: HEALTH PROMOTION MODEL • ANALYSIS: Upon analysis of the given heading, I have concluded that the theory that is mostly associated with this behavior is the Health Promotion Model due to the fact that in health promotion people have more control over their health and able to maintain or even improve their health to avoid acquiring diseases such as COVID- 19. In the given situation, Vietnam was able to successfully practice positive health behavior that resulted with them having smaller number of cases than the rest of the country.
