Preparation:
-Collect/Download necessary software (VMware Workstation Pro, vSphere ESXi, OVA file,
Windows Server 2012/2012R2/2016 ISO, Linux OS installer etc.)
-Physical Machine should have at least one Ethernet network card that is working properly.
-Other available network cards can be loopback adapters.

Task 1:
Deploy vSphere ESXi hypervisor on one machine by the specification below-

Design and implement suitable hardware resources.

The first NIC only shall be assigned for “Management network”.
The first NIC shall connect to “vmnet0” within the network range of 172.16.0.0/16.
The second NIC only shall be assigned for “Storage network”.
The second NIC shall connect to “vmnet1” within the network range of 192.168.255.0/24.
The third NIC only shall be assigned for “Virtual Machine network”.
The third NIC shall connect to “vmnet2” within the network range of 10.0.0.0/8.
The vmnet0, vmnet1 or vmnet2 can connect to suitable physical network adapters.
IP address should not be in conflict/identical. Describe your IP address assignment for the
respective host or network.

This ESXi’s hostname should be assigned as “DC01-ESX01”. That host should be accessible by
the web browser from the management PC within the network range of 172.16.0.0/16.
Carry out and describe at least one necessary testing of ping/network connection between
physical host machine and virtual machine.

Task 2:
Upload necessary installer ISO files to ESXI datastore.
Make sure you have completely uploaded the files into the datastore.
For ESXI networking, it should have three networks as – Management, Storage and VM.
Check and confirm there are three uplinks.
Prepare to make sure there are three virtual switches with distinguishable name.
Prepare to make sure there are three port-groups with distinguishable name.
Prepare and setup for necessary vmkernel NIC with suitable IP address.

Task 3:
Setup a storage server with suitable hardware requirements that will provide two iSCSI disk
storage to the ESXi of “DC01-ESX01”.
The storage server name should be assigned as “DC01-ST01”. The server’s IP address should be
within the range of 192.168.255.0/24 that should not be conflict in the network.

Create two iSCSI disks in the server and allow for access by ESXi host.
Disk 1 storage capacity should have at least 70 GB and to be extendable.
Disk 2 storage capacity should have at least 30 GB and to be extendable.

The provided iSCSI storage disks shall be connected by the ESXi host “DC01-ESX01” via the
“Storage network” and readily accessible as two disks storage in ESXi host.

Task 4:
Deploy an OVA that contained Linux OS with MariaDB in ESXi host with suitable resources.
VM storage location should be on Disk 1 that is provided by the storage server.
This deployed server should have access to the internet via one network interface and connected
to other virtual machines. Check network ping test for successful communications. Access the
server console via its configured IP address. Check whether the database service is accessible or
not, and it should be running as normal. Describe any difficulties and evaluation during
accessing and checking this server.
Enable and configure AutoStart function with the highest priority for this virtual machine when
ESXi host is power reboot.

Task 5:
Create a virtual machine of Linux OS in your ESXi host with suitable hardware resources.
VM storage location should be on Disk 2 that is provided by the storage server.
It should be named as “DC01-WEB01” and have web services installed in that VM.
The IP address assignment should be within the range of “10.0.0.0/8” and accessible via the web
browser from the user PC.
Enable and configure AutoStart function with the second priority for this virtual machine when
ESXi host is power reboot.
