DISCHARGE INSTRUCTIONS FOR COLONOSCOPY

1. Do not drive today. Your balance, judgment, memory, and coordination may be affected due to the
medications you received today.
2. You may eat after your procedure, as tolerated.
3. Resume your usual medications.
4. Call your doctors’ office to schedule a follow-up appointment if needed. The results of your procedure
and further treatment may be discussed at this time.
5. Call your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following symptoms in the next 24 hours:
 Intense pain
 Fever
 Bleeding
 Red or black bowel movements
 Vomiting

Additional Instruction:
Eat a high fiber diet.
Anal care and anal hygiene was discussed with the patient.
Avoid large seeds and nuts
We are waiting for your pathology results.
Return to office in one week.
Return to your referring physician as previously scheduled.
