NEW SOUTH WALES TRAVEL REQUIREMENT

1. A valid visa to enter Australia

2. Proof of vaccination - You will need to prove your vaccination status when you check-in for your
flight.

3. Australia Travel Declaration - Complete an Australia Travel Declaration (ATD) at least 72 hours
before departure.

4. Pre-departure COVID-19 test


➢ A negative COVID-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) or NAAT test taken within 3 days
of your flight’s scheduled departure to Australia or
➢ A medical certificate as evidence of a negative Rapid Antigen Test taken under medical
supervision within 24 hours before your flight’s scheduled departure.

If your flight is delayed, you will still be considered to have met the pre-departure testing
requirements. You will not need a new test.

However, if your flight is re-scheduled or cancelled, you will need to provide evidence of a
negative COVID-19 PCR test taken no more than 3 days before the re-scheduled flight or a Rapid
Antigen Test taken within 24 hours before the rescheduled flight.

5. When filling out the ATD you will need to:


a) Provide your contact details, including a contact phone number in Australia
b) Make a declaration in relation to your vaccination status
c) Make a declaration regarding your last 14 days travel history
d) Make a declaration that you are aware of the quarantine and testing requirements that apply
in the state or territory you are landing, and the penalties for non-compliance
e) Acknowledge that when you check-in for your flight, you must present evidence of: (as
mentioned in No. 4)

QUARANTINE
1. Upon arrival into NSW, vaccinated people should:
i. Go straight to your home or accommodation - You must travel directly from the airport to
self-isolate at your home or accommodation. It is recommended that you travel in a
private vehicle, taxi, or ride-share.
ii. Take a COVID-19 rapid antigen test - You must take a rapid antigen test as soon as
practicable after your arrival in NSW. A rapid antigen test is a self-test you can do at home.
iii. Self-isolate until you get a negative test result - You must self-isolate at your home or
accommodation until you receive a negative result from your rapid antigen test taken
after your arrival in NSW.
iv. Take another rapid antigen test on or after day
v. Don’t visit high risk places for at least 7 days and your test results are negative

2. When travelling, make sure you:
➢ Always wear a face mask
➢ sit as far away from the driver or other passengers as possible
➢ maximise the flow of fresh air, such as by opening windows
➢ sanitise your hands regularly
➢ do not make physical contact with the driver or other passengers
➢ avoid unnecessarily touching surfaces
➢ avoid speaking as much as possible
➢ handle your own belongings and luggage
➢ check-in with the NSW Government QR code.

3. What is self-isolation?
➢ Self-isolation means staying at your home or accommodation and remaining separated
from others, even if you are fully vaccinated and feeling well.
➢ If you are staying with friends or family (who have not returned from overseas), they are
not required to self-isolate with you but must always remain in a separate room to you.
➢ Self-isolation means you cannot go to any public places including shops, work, school or
public transport.
➢ You must not have any visitors, unless they are providing healthcare, emergency
maintenance or emergency services.
➢ If you need to leave self-isolation for one of below reasons, travel directly by private vehicle,
rideshare, or walk. You are only allowed to leave your home or accommodation during your
isolation period:
❖ to get a COVID-19 test
❖ for urgent medical care
❖ in an emergency, including to avoid injury or escape the risk of harm from domestic
violence.
➢ Wear a mask and return to self-isolation as soon as possible. If you need groceries or other
essentials, ask a family member or friend to drop off what you need without meeting you.
4. Contact from Service NSW
Service NSW staff may contact you within the first week of your arrival. They will explain what
you need to do and answer any questions you might have.

They will send you a text message and email within 24 hours of your arrival
