Chapter 1: Introduction

1.1 Objectives of the study:

1. The objective is to broaden my skill set, accept and acknowledge my strengths and
weaknesses. To find my potential and to follow my passion for my future.
2. The aim is also to build my resume with experience and expertise, to get real life
feedback and improvements with the help of professionals. To be able to work with role
models and mentors.
3. The motivation is to pursue and advance my areas of interest which are marketing and
human resources.
4. The goal is to understand the importance of the early stages in my career. To expose
myself to opportunities in the hope of development.
5. The target is to achieve, and enhance my understanding and knowledge towards my
interest and corporate work behavior.

1.2 Scope of the study:

1. The scope of the study is to increase my interest in the tasks required for a professional in
the background of Marketing and HR.
2. The scope is to strengthen my employer valued skills.
3. The scope is to assist me in my career along with giving me knowledge and checking it
whenever needed.
4. The scope is to gain and anticipate both positive and negative feedback from employers
and learn from the same.
5. The scope is to develop me, my skills, my knowledge and my personality to be able to
pursue a professional career in the fields of my interest.

1.3 Limitations of the study:


1. There were two domains in the same internship which resulted in less detailed
understanding of each.
2. The marketing internship focused more on sales which resulted in less exposure to
different skills and experience learning.

Chapter 3: Training Activities

3.1 Experiential Projects:

The various multiple projects I did in the internship were:


1. Salary slip: We were taught how to prepare a salary slip for the employees. We were
taught how much and when are the allowances added and where are deductions done in a
salary slip.
2. Calculation of taxable income & taxable liability. We were taught formulas for the
calculation of life insurance, the maturity period, the premium etc.
3. I prepared a ppt on Financial Sectors. We were taught the various sectors and its pros and
cons.
4. Maturity calculation period was taught. They gave us sample examples and taught us
how to calculate the maturity of life insurance.
5. Sales pitching was taught to us. They showed us videos and sent us a script of how to
demonstrate their product. Also, they sent us their brochures which helped us during the
briefing of their portfolio.
6. As a part of attendance, we were supposed to send them multiple things, the most
important of them all was the market opening price of SENSEX, NFTY, BSE and
Gold. This increased our awareness.

a) Experiential projects (task oriented)


▪ Exposure to various functions of the organization: I worked for Sales and Human Resource of
the organization.
▪ Application of managerial aspects learnt to the entire exercise:
1. I learned how to be more resourceful. I learned how to make and maintain a network.
2. I learned how to adapt to a new environment. How to be a part of a high performing team
and how to motivate and encourage people in the team.
3. I learned how to be more comfortable with data.
4. I learned how to ask twice without resisting. As that is what helps. Rather than working
twice harder, work once with proper understanding.
5. I learned to multitask with two domains. Human Resource and Sales, they are dependent
on each other as in sales we need to understand clients and in HR we need to understand
employees.
▪ Achievements during the internship: None.

3.2 Research Projects:

We were given an option between three domains which were Human Resource, Finance and
Marketing for our Second Phase of the Internship that was more focused on Researching. In
each domain there were multiple options and topics for Research Paper and Presentation. I
chose the Human Resource domain. There were three research papers and three presentations
under that. We were given the respective topics of both assignments.
Topics for research paper:
1. Are virtual interviews better than in
Person interviews?
2. Steps to take to improve long term
retention.
3. Use of VR and AR in the workplace

Topics for PPT:


1. Coaching for optimal performance
2. Developing leadership skills
3. Presentation skills for HR Manager

The entire process of forming an objective to choose the right methodology was done by me.
The process of data collection and analysis of the data was also done by the students only. My
process of doing the research incorporated the design process. I defined the problem or here
we can say the topic of the assignment. I collected secondary data, as primary data collection
could have been more time consuming.

All Research Paper’s:


▪ Formulation of objectives: The topics were assigned by us. Then I researched it using Google
scholar, prepared notes and a mind map. Connected topics which were relevant to the study
and formulated the objectives of the paper.
▪ Emphasis on methodology: My emphasis was on secondary data, I read articles, research
papers, books etc. I did all the needful citations. All the sources were credible and thus the
methodology was time consuming, accurate, appropriate and effective.
▪ Primary/secondary data collection: No primary Data.
▪ Analysis of the data with the use of sophisticated statistical tools: The analysis wasn’t needed.
As I took help from older studies and their findings for the papers.

All Presentation’s:
▪ Formulation of objectives: I researched online on slide share, youtube and took templates from
slides. In this task my focus was more on visual appeal and less data.
▪ Emphasis on methodology: the methodology incorporated primary data. The data source was
me and my friends.
▪ Primary/secondary data collection: Both.
▪ Analysis of the data with the use of sophisticated statistical tools: I didn’t use any tool for
analysis.

Chapter 4: Findings, Learnings, and Suggestions for the study.

4.1 Learnings

1. Multitasking.
2. High networking.
3. Acceptance of taking constructive feedback.
4. Putting my knowledge into practice.
5. Training myself to develop more skills
6. Understanding the work culture and adapting to it.
7. Focusing on personal growth as well as keeping the organization's goal higher.
8. Effective communication with your manager, colleagues and subordinates.

4.2 Suggestions

1. Always keep a track of your work, this helps maintain a proper record according to the
priority.
2. Learning to accept your mistakes takes you a long way.
3. Take risks and lose your comfort zone. Try something new and different.
4. Don’t ever be afraid to ask questions, seek help or complain when needed.

Chapter 5: Conclusion

Overall, this internship helped me develop skills professionally and personally. It was a smooth
learning process. This internship was an amalgamation of learning how to sell and how to
manage people. This experience helped me gain expertise and proper understanding of two types
of people, inside the organisation and outside. When we talk about people from inside the
organisation, employee management is a role that requires a strong suit of decision making. We
need to consider their pay, their T&D, their life cycle, their retention, etc. Whereas when I talk
about outside the organisation people here, I mean customers only. We contacted many potential
clients, we maintained their daily sales report, we learned how to calculate their maturity and
premium etc. Other than Understanding concepts relating to HR and Sales, I also practiced them
as a part of this internship. When I talk about personal Development, the internship has helped
me focus on the bigger picture and stay patient. Even if you face many difficulties you need to
stay focused. Thus, an internship is helpful for learning the practicality of the concepts and to
gain a bigger and a better perspective of not just professional but personal skills as well.
