MODULE TITLE: BUSINESS COMMUNICATION and ICT
ASSESSMENT SUMMARY
Internal Assessment tasks are designed to assist students to achieve the learning
outcomes of the Module. They are an integral part of the teaching and learning
process and should be attempted by all students.
In order to achieve a pass in this module, students must achieve 40% of overall
marks.

In today’s business world, technology has become a critical part of our lives. We use a variety of
smart phones, tablets, and other like devices to communicate and send messages to one another.
1. State and describe with examples four (4) technologies that assist communication in
modern businesses.
2. Further discuss two (2) benefits and two (2) drawbacks of each of these four (4)
technologies.
(Marks will be awarded to students for introduction, body and conclusion of the essay and
command of language)

Writing essays and assignments is one of the most important tasks a student must undertake.
Essays are important because they determine how well a student knows and understands his or her
subject. They can also serve as an indicator on how well a student is doing in the subject. A
teacher’s feedback from the essay can serve as good advice on how to improve, and how much
more is expected.
Prepare an essay of 900 words (+/- 10%) that addresses the following points:
1 Discuss and explain with examples three (3) different types of essays.
2 Identify and explain the three (3) examples of components of an essay.
(Marks will be awarded to students for introduction, body and conclusion of the essay and
command of language).

QUESTION 3 - Presentation (Group)
Conduct a class presentation of about 20 minutes in a group of 4 or 5 students with the following
requirements:
(Marks will be awarded based on presentation structure, content knowledge, visual aids, delivery
skills, the ability to answer questions, and the display of effective cohesiveness as a group.)
