CONFINEMENT / MEDICAL EMERGENCIES DURING HOLIDAYS:
During holidays, most Out-Patient doctors (OPD) and clinics may not be available for
consultation, therefore, non-emergency cases will be accommodated at the Emergency Room
(ER) of accredited hospitals. For ease of transaction, please call Medicard’s hotline first through
(02) 841-8080 or toll free 1-800-1-888-9001 for proper endorsement to the hospital.
*Please take note that said accommodation of non ER cases in the ER of hospitals will only be
done on Holidays. During regular days, Non-ER cases will have to go through the usual process
of availment—Call Medicard Hotline to schedule appointment, secure LOA from HMO Offices/
representatives in hospitals.

1. Call Medicard’s hotline through (02) 841-8080 or toll free 1-800-1-888-9001 for proper
endorsement to the hospital. Inform representative of the name of the hospital, name of the
patient (indicate if an employee or dependent(s) enrolled for HMO coverage), and nature of
illness. Please ignore this step if the patient is a dependent who has not been enrolled for HMO
coverage.

2. Bring the patient to the emergency room of any Medicard-accredited hospital. Do not forget
to present Medicard ID.

3. Coordinate with Hospital Billing section and Philhealth Section for the needed Philhealth
documents: Updated Member Data Record (MDR) or Philhealth ID indicating name of patient.
NOTE: “If a member is not able to present an updated MDR, secondary supporting documents
such as birth certificate, marriage contract and other documents may be accepted to ensure
Benefit claim availment.” Should there be a problem with availing the benefit, please provide
us 48 hours lead time in requesting the Certificate of Contribution (COC), thus it is advisable
that request for COC be done at the start of confinement to avoid non-availment of PHIC
benefit during discharge from the hospital.

mentioned Holidays:
