7.1 Learnings
How an Actual HR department work process & organizational culture for e.g.,

❖ Recruiting and staffing

Staffing and recruiting are handled by human resources departments. They establish and
implement recruitment procedures to guarantee they hire the proper individuals, and they make
sure the firm has enough personnel to operate the business. Job descriptions, job
advertisements, interviews, and background checks are frequently done by HR employees.
Finding employees who can perform the job well and who also contribute to the culture of the
business is their goal.

This task is essential because it improves operational efficiency and decreases turnover when
the correct team members are hired. The department in charge of recruitment and hiring
oversees onboarding, welcomes new hires, and gives them all the information or resources they
need.

❖ Health and safety

Employee safety and health are top priorities for HR. In accordance with laws and regulations,
this department conducts research and creates health and safety measures. The department may
suggest suitable attire and equipment to employees or provide health and safety training.

❖ Compensation and benefits

This department oversees benefits administration, payroll tax management, and payroll
management. When a firm wants to hire the best applicant, a decent wage and benefits package
might make a difference. They plan employee benefits such as pay, insurance, and holidays.
The goal of human resources professionals is to satisfy employee demands while upholding
equity and consistency throughout the company. The pay and benefits department investigates,
suggests, and administers new benefit choices for employees with this goal in mind.

❖ Disciplinary actions

HR must take specific steps to address or penalise the improper behaviour or performance in
cases of employee misconduct. A verbal or written warning, probation, suspension, or
termination are all possible sanctions. The administrative reaction depends on the seriousness
of the infringement and is determined case-by-case.

❖ Company policies

The goal of HR policies is to guarantee that all employees are treated with respect and have
access to the appropriate benefits. Employee handbooks and corporate rules are updated and
modified as necessary by HR professionals, who also ensure that all workers are informed of
all company regulations.

❖ New hire onboarding

An employee's introduction and socialisation during onboarding may be divided into two
groups. The process of guiding the employee through the orientation and training phases is
known as formal onboarding. Informal onboarding entails assisting new hires in acclimating to
their surroundings as well as the demands of their role. When onboarding new employees,
badges, tools, and mentors may be given out.
