1. Product characteristics
The QY70V533 truck crane, which is developed independently to adapt to the market
demands, is a new-generation and high-performance product integrating our company many
years’ manufacturing experience with advanced technologies. Its performances such as lifting
height, boom length, working speed and lifting capacity have achieved advanced international
level.
The truck crane, with spacious cab and luxurious equipments, adopts full slewing system,
telescopic boom, electro-hydraulic proportional control system and self-made full-width special
purpose chassis with four axles. 8×4 drive and hydraulic power steering mechanism provide the
crane with good driving performance and flexible steering.
The system with latest load feedback electro-hydraulic operated proportional directional
control valve and double pump is adopted to make full use of the working capacity of each
actuating mechanism. The control type of 2 levers, which are flexible and stepless speed
regulated, can carry out any of the 2 crane movements “Spool up main / auxiliary winch”, “Reel
off main / auxiliary winch”, “Telescope boom in / out”, “Derrick”, and “Slew” simultaneously.
All that not only provides the crane with stable and reliable simultaneous movements but also
greatly improves crane’s working efficiency. The safety devices fitted in hydraulic system, such
as relief valve, balance valve, hydraulic lock and brake valve etc., prevents the oil line from
overloading and the accidents caused by oil pipe breakage. The control system adopts modern
data bus technology and has fault self-diagnosis function. LCD can display the pressure on fault
point in real time and provide the troubleshooting methods.
The safety devices such as load moment limiter, and the complete lighting system equipped
in the crane ensure your safety during operation and are convenient for night work.
This crane has a novel style which makes it beautiful in figure, in form and in color.

3 Specifications, superstructure
3.1 Boom and telescoping mechanism
The telescopic boom consists of 5 hexagon-section boom sections which are made of
high-strength low alloy steel, so it has strong bending resistance, great load bearing capacity,
light deadweight, large lateral stiffness and small end deflection. Adopting a self-created support
structure for sliding block angle, the deadweight of the boom has been greatly decreased and the
stress on the boom is distributed more evenly after a series improvements. Thus, boom
deformation caused by uneven stress distribution will never occur. Furthermore, the boom has
good guidance quality and adjustability.
The boom telescoping mechanism is composed of two telescoping cylinders and two
synchronous telescoping mechanisms. The 1st telescoping cylinder drives the 2nd boom section to
telescope in / out; the 2nd telescoping cylinder drives the 3rd, 4th, 5th boom sections to telescope
in/out via the synchronous telescoping mechanism. This compact design makes the crane operate
reliably. Each cylinder is fitted with balance valve.

3.2 Jib
It consists of two jib sections. It is folded on the side of boom and fixed by inserting pins
when it is not used. The 1st reduced lattice jib section has good load bearing capacity and the
stress on it is well distributed; the 2nd jib section is in box type which can be pulled out from the
1st jib section. The jib length can be 9.5m or 16m. The 1st jib section is mounted on the top boom
section and its offset is 0° or 30°. The offset is conveniently changed by operating the shaft and
pull bracket.

3.3 Slewing table


Single ribbed plate structured and optimized slewing table made from high-strength steel
makes the layout of articulated points of boom and derricking mechanism more reasonable. It
also has an unique structure and beautiful appearance. The engine hood is designed
ergonomically. The inserting pin mechanism installed in front of the slewing table can prevent
the superstructure from rotating during traveling.

3.4 Boom head single pulley
The boom head single pulley is mounted on the side of boom head when it is not used. It
rotates around the shaft and aligns and then is fixed on the boom head by shaft. This option is set
up for rapid hoists over the boom head to improve the working efficiency when the loads are
light.

3.5 Derricking mechanism

1 front-mounted telescoping cylinder with balance valve raises and lowers the boom from
-2° to 80° smoothly.

3.6 Slewing mechanism

Axial plunger piston hydraulic motor drives the pinion on output shaft via planetary gear
reducer to rotate around the slewing ring, providing crane superstructure 360° unlimited rotation.
The slewing mechanism is of controllable and free slewing function, which makes the load stop
at any position. Slewing cushion valve and normally closed brake provide the crane stable and
reliable slewing. 4-point ball type slewing ring makes the slewing table of super-strong bearing
capability and long service life.

3.7 Hoisting mechanism


It consists of main and auxiliary winch mechanisms. The axial plunger hydraulic motor
drives the grooved drum via the planetary gear reducer to lift and lower the hook. There is a
brake mounted between the motor and reducer. The main winch and auxiliary winch can work
independently or simultaneously. Models of main / auxiliary winch reducer are the same.
However, the main winch is driven by variable motor and auxiliary winch is driven by fixed
displacement motor. A spring-type rope guard is installed on each winch. The main winch is also
equipped with a lowering limit switch. The built-in two-stage planetary gear reducer has such
advantages as compact structure, light deadweight and high reliability. The hoist rope is
anti-twisting and high-strength and its specifications are as following:

3.8 Main and auxiliary hook

The lifting capacity of main hook is 70t. The wire rope is reeved on the pulley for 6 times.
The main hook is rotatable and is equipped with a hook safety device and the mounting lugs for
fixing the tail end of wire rope. The lifting capacity of auxiliary hook is 5t and the wire rope is
reeved on the pulley for 1 time. The auxiliary hook is equipped with an anti-rotating device and a
hook safety device.

3.9 Operator’s cab

Wide-vision operator’s cab with adjustable headrest seat is made of steel. All the
instrument panels are installed in front of the seat, and the control levers are beside the left and
right armrest. The spacious, comfortable and safe cab, which is equipped with wiper, washer,
A/C and heater, is ergonomically designed.

3.10 Outrigger

The crane adopts H-type outriggers. The outrigger box and sliding beam, which are made
of low-alloy and high-strength steel, are of box structure. After Pro/E simulation design and
actual-use calculation, the section of the outrigger is of good performance and strong bearing
capacity. The 2-section horizontal sliding beams can be telescoped in /out synchronously via the
horizontal cylinder with a telescoping wire rope. Large outrigger span ensures the stability of
the crane. The outrigger pad is mounted on the head of vertical cylinder and can be pushed and
pulled horizontally. The outrigger pad can be pushed inward to avoid the complete vehicle
being over-wide during traveling and it can be pulled outward conveniently during operation.
Then the labor intensity will be reduced greatly. When the outriggers are fully extended or fully
retracted, they are fixed by locking pins. The outrigger control levers are installed on both sides

of chassis frame and can be operated synchronously or independently. Each vertical cylinder is
equipped with a two-way hydraulic lock to ensure stable and reliable operation of the crane. In
addition, the crane can work with outriggers half extended so that it can work in narrow area.

The 5th outrigger is installed beneath the driver’s cab. When the 5th outrigger is set up, the
crane can realize all-direction slewing operation.

3.11 Hydraulic system

It is an open type hydraulic system. The advanced electric proportional pilot lever control
system, the electro-hydraulic proportional control system, the anti-pollution bite-type fitting and
the key components of global brand are adopted to ensure the high reliability of the hydraulic
system. The main drive part consists of a variable-displacement pump and a gear pump. The
variable-displacement pump is used for main winch, auxiliary winch, derricking system and
telescoping system; the gear pump supplies oil for chassis hydraulic system, slewing system and
A/C system. The chassis hydraulic system controls the moving direction of the horizontal
cylinders and vertical cylinders by manual multiple directional control valve. The new multiple
directional control valve with an additional pressure limit valve can effectively prevent piston
rod of the horizontal cylinder from bending.
Main control valve is a load sensitive proportional multiple directional control valve and the
pilot control valve is an electric proportional control valve, which ensure the crane have good
jogging performance.

3.12 Electrical system


This is a single wire system with negative earthed. The rated voltage of its power supply is
DC 24V.
Since the control system adopts high-performance program controller which has high speed
A/D sampling function, extra-wide power input and large current PWM output, the crane can
operate normally under various working conditions. Furthermore, the system is equipped with a
monitor which not only can monitor various pressure of system in real time, but also make fault
diagnosis and modify all kinds of specifications displayed on PLC on the spot through monitor.

The display, with bright color, can display distinct and stable image. The monitor and PLC is
connected by bus line. The start and shutdown of chassis can be controlled by the operator’s cab.

3.13 Safety device


The crane is equipped with an automatic load moment limiter whose display and warning
device is fitted in the operator’s cab. If the actual load reaches 90% of the rated one, the warning
light lights up and buzzer sends out slow acoustic warning. If the actual load approaches 100%
of the rated one, all dangerous crane movements are switched off.
According to the requirements, the digital LCD will display the following data: load
moment ratio, boom angle, boom length, working radius, actual lifting capacity, permitted lifting
capacity and the maximum permitted lifting height.
In addition, the crane is also equipped with the following safety devices to ensure the safety
of the crane:
a) Boom angle indicator;
b) Suspended hoisting limit switch;
c) Hook safety device;
d) Lowering limit switch;
e) Fault self-diagnosis system;
f) The 5th outrigger overpressure protection device;
g) Two-way hydraulic lock;
h) Balance valve;
i) Relief valve.

3.14 A/C and heater


Both the driver’s cab and the operator’s cab are equipped with an A/C special for auto.
The operator’s cab is also equipped with a heater.

1. Product characteristics

ZLJ5455V special purpose chassis for truck crane, integrating many years’ design and

manufacturing experience, is a new generation product with high performances, independently

developed by our company in accordance with market trend and consumers’ demands. The chassis

is designed, manufactured and tested strictly in accordance with the requirements stipulated in

national standard and industrial standard. Emission of the crane complies with the regulations of

GB17691-2005 Stage Ⅲ and GB3847-2005, and safety devices conform to the requirements of 3C

certification.

The low-mounted full-width driver’s cab, which is developed independently by our company and

manufactured by special manufacturer, has novel and distinctive appearance and good aerodynamic

performance. The inner decoration and the layout of switches, control lights, control levers and

pedals are ergonomically to provide comfortable environment and operating condition for the

driver/passengers. The applied electrical-controlled engine is much more energy-saving and

environment friendly. The bus technology adopted in the control system is of self-diagnosis function.

8X4 drive and the hydraulic power steering mechanism provide the crane with good driving

performance and flexible steering. The applied two-circuit pneumatic brake system ensures the brake

system can work reliably. The optional emergency steering system is used to steer and tow in an

emergency to ensure safety traveling.

At the beginning of design, fully considering the cost and convenience of maintenance, each

instrument in we applied the cab is single gauge, and most of the connecting elements of air pipe and

oil pipe are standard elements.

3.1 Engine

The engine is developed in order to satisfy with the special working mode of truck crane. It has

large output torque, good starting performance and high acceleration. The forced-induction system

can effectively ensure the engine have larger torque when it is running at low speed area, and greatly

improve the dynamic property at low speed and climbing ability. Furthermore, since the exhaust

temperature of engine at low speed area is very low, the service life of crane is prolonged; the engine

is an electronic fuel injection engine so that it is much more energy-saving and environment friendly.

3.2 Clutch and its controls


Diameter of friction lining: Φ430mm

The crane applies single dry disc pull-type clutch. This clutch has stable working performance

and can be disengaged easily.

The applied air pressure booster hydraulic control mechanism is operated easily and reliably.

Even though it is invalid, the clutch can be disengaged via increasing the travel of clutch pedal to

ensure enough pressure (Note: At this time, the force depressed on the clutch pedal should be

greatly increased).

3.3 Transmission and its controls


The mechanical 9-gear transmission has 9 forward gears and 1 reverse gear for selection. It

consists of the main transmission and the rear-mounted auxiliary transmission. Both the main and

auxiliary transmissions are equipped with the same two intermediate shafts. The power is input via

the input shaft, then flows to the two intermediate shafts, and flow together at the main output shaft at

last. Under this condition, the thickness of gears is reduced, the axial dimension of transmission is

reduced, the mass of crane is reduced and the structure of main shaft is simplified. Thus, the main

shaft only bears torque but no bending moment, the force condition of main shaft and bearing is

improved, the reliability of transmission is increased and its service life is prolonged. Since the

transmission has a lot of gears, the difference between speed ratios of gears is small to ensure the

difference between the rotational speeds of neighbored gears is small when the transmission is

working. Thus, the transmission can change gears stably.

The transmission is equipped with a synchronizer inside; the gearshift lever is equipped with

gearshift switch to control the shifting cylinder. The gearshift switch is valid only when the

transmission is engaged from high gear area to low gear area or from low gear area to high gear

area.

The transmission control system is mechanical manual controlled. It is simply structured,

maintained conveniently and works reliably.

The transmission output flange is with end face teeth, thus the power is transmitted more stably

and reliably.

3.4 PTO

Rated output torque: 686N.m

Output type: flange connected, the rotational directions of output flange and engine are the

same.

Rear-mounted PTO, which is mounted on the extension intermediate shaft of auxiliary

transmission, takes off power from the extension intermediate shaft via PTO hollow shaft. The power

will be transmitted to the input gear via meshing gear sleeve, and then be output via output gear shaft

and output flange. It has large power.

The applied electronic two-circuit pneumatic control system can prevent PTO being engaged by

mistake because of shake or other reasons when it is not necessary to use the PTO.

3.5 Propeller shaft


The crane applies Steyr series propeller shaft assy. which is open type and is driven via the end

face teeth.

Since an intermediate bearing is installed at the end of the 1st propeller shaft, the propeller shafts

are distributed properly, the included angle of universal joints is decreased, the critical rotational

speed is increased, and the resonance performance of drive system is improved. There are some

similarities between the structures of the 2nd propeller shaft assy. and intermediate/rear propeller

shaft: universal joints on two ends, telescopic splines at the middle part of the shaft. Thus the

propeller shaft can adapt to the jump of axles.

3.6 Axle
The two front axles are steering driven axles, the intermediate axles are through rigid drive axles,

and the rear axles are common rigid drive axles. The intermediate axles are equipped with

longitudinal differential lock device and transversal differential lock device, but the rear axles are only

equipped with transversal differential lock. All the axles are connected with the chassis frame via

suspension.

The front steering knuckle is integral forged in fork structure. The mounted limit screws are used

to limit and adjust the inner and outer turning angle of wheels to ensure the vehicle steer properly and

reliably.

All the connecting flanges of intermediate and rear axles apply end face teeth and the axle assy.

adopts two-stage main reducer. In this way, the dynamic property and energy-saving performance

can be improved effectively.

3.7 Wheels and tires


Tire model: 12.00R24;

Tire pressure: 0.84MPa;

Rim model: 8.5-24;

The flat base wide rim can effectively prolong the service life of tires and improve trafficability and

traveling stability of vehicle.

The radial ply tire has such advantages as large elasticity, good abrasion resistance, small rolling

resistance, good adhesive performance, good cushioning performance, great load bearing capacity

and good anti-piercing performance etc.

3.8 Steering system


The steering system consists of an integrating recirculating ball-type power steering gear, two

outboard booster cylinders, a steering oil pump and a steering wheel, etc.

The steering gear adopts built-in booster cylinder, recirculating ball-type steering mechanism

with rack gear segment and the high-sensitive distribution valve, which has such advantages as large

output torque, good alignability, high reliability and convenient assembly and maintenance.

The emergency steering system is optional. When the vehicle travels normally, the main

steering system works to make the main steering pump take off power from the engine. When the

engine cannot work or the main steering oil pump cannot take off power, the main steering system

cannot work. Under this condition, the emergency steering system begins to work. The emergency

steering pump takes off power from the transmission (Note: Only when the vehicle is traveling, can

the emergency steering pump take off power).

3.9 Suspension
The front suspension is a longitudinally installed leaf spring suspension. It has such advantages

as simple structure, high working reliability and convenient maintenance, etc. When the crane is

traveling on the uneven road or is impacted, the rubber buffer block mounted on the leaf spring will

contact with the limit block on the lower plane of chassis frame to prevent the leaf spring being

damaged and buffer the impact.

The rear suspension is a balanced suspension with leaf spring, balanced beam and thrust bar

type tandem axle. Under this condition, the rear leaf spring is fixed on the balanced beam bracket via

stud pressure plate and the balanced beam and thrust bar are series connected, thus the rear axle

distortion can be greatly absorbed. Even though the crane is traveling on the uneven road, the drive

wheels will not skid. The rear leaf spring is also equipped with rubber buffer block and limit block to

protect the leaf spring.

3.10 Brake system


The brake system consists of driving brake (foot brake) and emergency brake (hand brake).

Emergency brake can be selected to park the vehicle in normal condition and on slopes.

Main brake: double-circuit pneumatic brake, acting on all wheel hubs;

Parking brake (emergency brake): spring brake, acting on wheel hubs of intermediate/rear axles;

Auxiliary brake: consisting of engine exhaust brake.

For the double-circuit brake pipes, if one of the pipes is invalid, the other pipe also can work

normally, thus the working reliability is increased greatly. If the foot brake is invalid or the brake pedal

is not depressed in time during traveling, the emergency brake is needed. At this time, operate the

hand-brake lever to exhaust the air in brake chamber, then the brake spring will be expanded

immediately to brake the crane and ensure safety.

Brake system applies the brake elements such as the high integrated solenoid valve island, the

4-circuit protective valve and dryer, etc., thus the pipe layout and maintenance are more simple and

convenient.

3.11 Electrical system


The chassis applies 6-QA-195 (or N200) battery. The two batteries are series connected (the

rated voltage of each battery is 12V). The electrical system is single-wired and takes the metal

(negative pole) as the return line. The negative pole is earthed after through the battery master switch

to make a circuit with 24V output voltage. The batteries comply with the requirements stipulated in

GB/T5008.1-2005 Lead-acid Starter Batteries — Technical Requirements and Methods of Tests, and

the conducting wires comply with the national standard QC/T29106-2004.

The standard generator, which has pressure adjustment function, is an integral alternator. Its

output power is 2kW.

The crane applies combination lamp, front fog lamp and rear fog lamp which not only makes the

crane with beautiful appearance but also increase the safety of traveling.

We apply the instrument panel with background light and single gauge which is not only

convenient for operation at nigh or during bad weather, but also convenient for maintenance. Since

the connectors of all the electrical elements are imported, they are connected reliably and can reduce

the cost.

3.12 Driver’s cab


The low-mounted full-width driver’s cab is made of welded steel plate and is fully decorated with

noise & heat shield inside. There is a sun visor in the cab. All the seats in cab are adjustable seats

with cushion backrest and safety belt. The steering wheel is adjustable and the windows at two sides

are hand operated. The vibration insulation material which is stuck in the cab near the engine can

effectively reduce the noise in the cab. The door is internal articulated with the cab and the doorframe

is equipped with rubber sealing strip to ensure the door have good tightness. The door can be

opened at 85° to make the driver/passengers get in/off conveniently.

The front windshield of the cab is equipped with parallel large electric wipers and washing

device. At the front of cab, there are large combination mirrors on two sides. The cab has beautiful

appearance and wide vision as well as good aerodynamic performance.

3.13 Air conditioning

The cab is equipped with an adjustable heating & defrosting device and an adjustable cooling air

conditioning.
