II. Provisions
This agreement makes it possible for a high school student graduating from M-DCPS who has
completed one or more courses in a Career and Technical Education (CTE) program to receive
postsecondary hours provided the following conditions are met:
A. Transferring students must furnish an official copy of their transcript. The transcript must
reflect a cumulative, unweighted grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 with a grade of “C” or
higher in each of the courses in the M-DCPS Career and Technical Education program.
B. Students must meet all of The English Center admission requirements as stated in the school
catalog of the admitting year.
C. Students applying for admission to the postsecondary program under this articulation
agreement will have matriculation priority if applications and transcripts are submitted for
enrollment in the fall term following their departure from high school.
D. Students will not be charged for the hours granted at the postsecondary level awarded
under this agreement. A notation of transferred hours will appear on the student’s records
and will indicate the source and basis for awarding the hours.
E. Courses successfully completed at the high school level that do not result in an occupational
completion point will be evaluated on an individual basis to determine if hours are to be
awarded.
III. Term
Students must request credit with two (2) years of high school departure. Any request for credit
received after that period shall be reviewed in accordance with policies in effect at the time of
the request.
IV. Process
Students shall be responsible for initiating the process, by making application according to the
conditions of this Memorandum of Understanding as listed below:
Step 1: Students must satisfy all admission requirements as stated in the latest catalog
of The English Center.
Step 2: Students must submit a copy of the M-DCPS official high school transcript and
any Occupational Completion Point Certificates awarded at the secondary level.
The M-DCPS postsecondary program chair/teacher or designee will complete the request.
Students will be notified of evaluation results and articulated hours will be posted.
