This study examined the effects of a constructivist teaching approach compared to a traditional teaching method on student achievement in science at the elementary level. Sixty 7th grade students were randomly assigned to either an experimental group that was taught using constructivism or a control group taught traditionally. Both groups were taught selected science topics for 8 weeks. An achievement test was administered and analyzed, finding a significant difference in performance between the two groups, with the experimental constructivist group performing better. The researchers concluded that constructivism is an effective teaching approach to improve student achievement in science compared to traditional methods.
