Answer the questions substantially.

1.      What are the ethical dilemmas of healthcare delivery in the information technology age?
Explain each.

A concern would be data accessibility and privacy as in this period, almost everything (files,
charts, and the like) is kept online. There comes the possibility of a misuse and breach of privacy
due to the ease of access one can obtain in this digital age which could lead to devious actions and
harmful doings. Examples of some ethical dilemmas in relation to technology would include
Neuroethology and privacy. Neurotech, as mentioned previously, could be a source of breach
pertaining a person’s privacy to gradually change or alter behavioral and though patterns. One would
question whether it is safe to allow technology to be placed in a person’s body. Next would be
genetical engineering. It is the editing of the human genome to either eliminate or enhance certain
genetic traits of a person. One would question whether this would be ethical as it is a direct
interference to natural human biology. Another would be the application of AI in a healthcare system.
While it aims to aid healthcare professionals in their respective jobs, there would always be a margin
of error in the programming of these technology and could subsequently endanger the life of a
patient. There would also be an issue of replacement of jobs, health tracking, and inherent bias from
the manufacturer.

2.      Why is there a need for healthcare organizations to have technological ethics committees?

It is imperative to have a technological ethics committee to prevent any misuse and breach
of human dignity in a healthcare setting. They are to keep everything regarding the health profession
in check in order to verify and crosscheck that operations are to be remained ethical for the
betterment of all. With the rise of the informational technology age, there arises numerous ethical
dilemmas to be discussed with this new age so it truly is vital to have a committee to be able to
monitor everything.
